In the hart of the City, excellent spot but is a bit tired in looks and comfort, before you use Internet make sure you switch on you computer , free CBD Internet available , I paid for mine $12. Pity for the surcharge for your credit card, if we speak up a bit more and put a negative remark about the Internet and credit card fee they may take the hint.

Thankyou for your comments, and particularly the alert regarding the security gate. It operates only between Midnight and 6am, which may explain why I hadn't picked up on it. Fixed now!

My husband and I had a couple of nights here before taking the ferry across to the South Island. Our room was on the front, spacious and just what you would expect from a 4* hotel although I found it rather drab and the noise from the traffic woke me early although my husband slept soundly. In fact, I found the rest of hotel rather dark and sombre despite the artwork. Perhaps it's all the dark wood everywhere. It boasts of a pool, and in fairness, it does call it a lap-pool, but I reckon three people in the pool would feel a little crowded.
On arrival, I phoned down for some fresh pasturised milk for the tea/coffee making facilities in the room and was brought a carton of ultra pasturised and was told that was the only milk available. The next day, on our return from a long day sightseeing in Wellington, I had to ring down and ask for the room to be serviced as it hadn't been cleaned during the day. Someone came up 20 minutes later to do a perfunctory job. Hardly what you want when you are looking forward to a soak in the bath before dinner. On our return home, the bank statement showed we had been charged for a bottle of wine from the mini bar which we hadn't touched. When I contacted the hotel, the amount was refunded straight away.
The best thing about this hotel was the absolutely wonderful breakfast. It was the best breakfast we had in all our travels round this lovely country.

It started badly and went from there. When we arrived there was a queue to get to the front entrance with a car left parked in the way. The car behind us started tooting and yelling abuse and we couldn't move! None of the staff was interested in helping. The booking took for ever and we had to wait (even though it was after 2pm) as the room hadn't been checked. The lift was very funny - everytime it came down to the ground floor it would shoot back up to the first floor so we ended up taking the stairs. Our room was very tired and not too clean and the bath towels were like yellow cardboard. The position of this hotel is excellent but it is not a good place to stay.

Museum Hotel in Wellington is by far THE BEST place to stay when visiting the windy city. The staff there are amazing, the rooms are clean, beds are very comfortable and it is quiet!

I would recommend it to anyone!

We visited the Museum Hotel for one night prior to heading down to the Marlborough Wineries. The hotel is in close walking distance to shopping, restaurants and bars and is about a $35 cab ride from the airport. We had booked a two bedroom suite and were upgraded to a penthouse upon arrival. The room was very spacious with a long dining and lounge room with two balconies which allow a fantastic bay breeze through the room. Surrounded by glass the room was filled with beautiful sunshine for most of the day. Room has a full sized fridge and kitchenette and there are supermarkets within easy walking distance. The beds were VERY comfortable. We had excellent service from the concierge for the whole trip. Nothing was a problem and the service and advise was genuine. We didn't eat breakfast due to having to get the boat early but the menu did look expensive. We would definitely stay here again.
