First time on business, and in a hotel like this. So perhaps my expectations are different.

Terrace room was air conditioned, large windows, two tables, one with network cable and some minimal stationary. Large table contains 2 cups, 2 glasses, and the tea/coffee. Mini-bar is jam packed with stuff, including the mini-tubs of UHT milk. Was plenty of space to store my own container of milk in it.

The room is really nice, and the staff are almost too eager to clean your rooms - even if you leave a "do not clean" sign outside.

The big disappointment to the room was the shower. The bath is raised off the ground, and the shower is a raised shower-head into the bath. But the shower-head is too low, and you have to bend over to wash your air. There are sticky-strips in the bath to prevent slipping, but when showering they don't quite reach.

Laundry seemed expensive at $10 per shirt, $5 per t-shirt.

Internet connection is a complete rip-off. Was there for 3 weeks so bought 1 week, $100, 1 GB bandwidth before throttling. Used all that up in 1 Skype call one day, and the dribbles of broadband afterwards were virtually unusable.

There's a very good 2degrees signal on the 20th floor, so I bought a Mobile broadband dongle from the shop nearby.

Early January it was very quiet and downstairs cafe/bar was always closed. In my third week it opened and the hotel was much busier.

Didn't try the bar or restaurant, but was very tempted by the Spa. Back, Neck, Shoulders massage at $15.

Not many channels on the TV. Ground floor of the Hotel is used as a thoroughfare for commuters to the lifts. Wasn't a big deal to me, but slightly annoying.
Plenty of taxis outside and easy to get to airport.

Probably Gay friendly, as twice they decided I was checking in with my boyfriend (first time was my colleague, second time was someone I didn't even know).

Hotel is very close to the harbour, but at night the area around the hotel is virtually deserted.
It's a short walk to Courtney Place - where all the night life is, and not too far from a large supermarket.

Would happily stay there again, but missed a 5-star shower.

Room Tip: Terrace Rooms will face slightly towards the harbour. Lambton rooms face towards the hill.

A great place to stay if you have meetings in the financial district. I had dinner bed and breakfast there. All very good. Used the WiFi and the dinning room in the foyer. Tere were other options. If you travel with a partner who likes shopping Kirkcaldies is just over the road.

Arrived later in the evening, so check in very quick. Had booked off wot if so received valet parking, late checkout & breakfast. The room was lovely & clean, larger than expected. We went out for a drink then on return we noticed how noisy the room was with the wind whistling in or around the window. I phoned reception and was found a room on the otherside of the building which was perfect no noise & a great sleep. The buffet breakfast was delicious, the freshly made pancakes & omelettes are amazing. Location is great & will definately be back.

We love the location of this hotel and always stay here whenever in Wellington. Apart from the fact that my mother lives exactly across the road from this hotel we have always stayed here from the year dot as when flying into Wellington as aircrew this was the crew hotel. Old habits die hard but the reputation and the continued excellent service of this hotel remains a constant The rooms have been renovated and upgraded and the deal we had for our two nights stay was fantastic.
Catching the in-house lift down to Lambton Quay to my favourite Wellington shops and cafes is a bonus.
The staff in every department were courteous, helpful and friendly.
We always choose this hotel and willcontinue to do so.
