We were in Wellington for the last weekend of the Wearable Arts show. It was a busy weekend. the Travel Lodge was very handy to the venue (TSB Stadium). We couldnt check in when we arrived because we were early and the rooms were still being serviced, but we could register our bags and leave them there, which was helpful.

Staff were friendly, rooms were serviceable. Good accomodation for what we wanted.

Room Tip: Didnt use the Restaurant, and didn't find much else nearby. there was a oub downstairs which di...

We checked in last night very speedily and had requested a king non smoking room hi with a view, got most of everything but no harbour views, no problems thou. The room is clean, has a mini fridge not too noisy during the night, has block out blinds, not enough blankets thou so rang for more and they obliged immediately, asked for a bucket of ice and it arrived promptly so everything works but its not luxury. The towels are not fluffy, the blankets are so thin not much warmth, the pillows are lumpy, the bathroom is just ok, again nothing lux, no delicious soaps etc.. Just the essentials. The location is great, we walk everywhere in the city and thereabouts. The Buffett breakfast was extremely disappointing, no muesli just cornflakes and rice bubbles, there was no bread to toast! Had to ask for it, coffee was disgusting! Out of a filtered machine stone cold. Juice out of a bottle, fruit was ok, jams out of tiny square little containers... Lift is ok and the people at reception were very obliging but it's definitely a business functional hotel not a luxurious one so we won't be back here again. If you come here, ask for extra blankets immediately. Supermarket around the corner called "metro", go to Cuba street for coffees and good restaurants in the waterfront, shed 22 was super. "Scopa" was good too for dinner and lunch in Cuba street,

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 20 th floor with a view and include breakfast in your deal

Thanks for taking the time to review our hotel. Our aim at Travelodge is to provide our guests great service and comfort at a reasonable price. I am pleased to hear we responded to your requests quickly, we are currently reviewing our bedding and would expect to make some upgrades in the near future. I am sorry to hear your comments about the breakfasts which always has muesli and bread. If we have run short I apologize and will speak with chef.

Excellent location hotel right in the heart of Wellington, just a few steps from the funicular railway base station.
Well equipped rooms (microwave, coffee making, wine glasses, cutlery, plates). Quiet, as most rooms are 8th floor and higher. Great views from corner rooms.

Room Tip: Try to get a corner room in higher floors

We stayed at the Travelodge on the night of 29 September, not because we choose this hotel but because it was the only lodgings available as the World of Wearable arts event was on in Wellington this weekend and the city was chocka.
Check in was stated to be at 2pm in our booking, but when we arrive at the check-desk there were crowds of other travellers waiting for their rooms and we were told our rooms weren't ready and may be ready in another hour or so. We asked if there was a restaurant in the hotel we could get something to eat at as we had been travelling for four hours to get there and we were sent by the young female receptionist downstairs to the restaurant that turned out to be closed until dinner time! We eventually got into our rooms at 4.30pm and we offered a free car park for the night worth $20. We had a dinner to get to at 5.30pm so it really gave us no time to wind down and relax before we had to be out again. A very poor service given that the hotel would have been aware of the amount of bookings they had and should have rostered enough staff on to make sure housekeeping could keep up. Poor management skills and a bad look for any overseas visitors that may have been staying.
Rooms are very small and bathrooms smaller. Hopeless for putting on makeup lighting was terrible around the mirrors.

Room Tip: If you have to stay here ask for a high floor and we had a corner room that had a bit of a harbour v...

Thank you for reviewing our hotel, as you have mentioned there were issues on the day with rooms not being ready. What happened on the day was not acceptable and should not have occurred. I have since made a number of changes to prevent a similar re-occurrence. I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

A 2 night stay here as part of a touring holiday.
Room was very clean and tidy but far too small for 2 people with luggage for a 3 - 4 week trip.
Also there was no balcony and as a smoker I did not like going down to the shopping mall for a cigarette.
The food in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced.
The staff were helpful.
I would not stay here again simply because of the size of the room.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel, most of our stays are for a night or two and as reasonable priced CBD hotel our rooms are adequate size. New Zealand has laws that do not allow smoking within a public type of building. The vast majority of hotels in Wellington do not have balconies. For smokers in this day in age it really is a case of having to go outside. As you noted we have excellent food and the hotel is located right in the center of Wellington giving easy access to what Wellington has to offer.

We stayed here on a Saturday night on what was a really busy weekend for Wellington. The hotel was overwhelmed with visitors, and our rooms were not available until 5pm, despite being assured they would be ready at 2pm. We had a 6pm reservation, so timing was tight! With so many rooms booked for the weekend, perhaps additional cleanering staff may have been a good idea. The reception staff were apologetic though, and gave us a complimentary breakfast for the following morning. Once in the room it was pretty much as expected - basic, but with a reasonably spacious feel. The cleanliness was average, possibly because of the rush to get the rooms done. Our room was quiet, the king-size bed was comfortable. Wi-fi was very expensive, so we didn't use it - there's a Starbucks across the road. Luggage storage and parking is available. The location is fantastic - the base of the hotel is on Lampton Quay, right amongst the shops, and it's just a few minutes walk to the waterfront, 10 minutes to Parliament buildings, and about 15-20 minutes walk to Te Papa. Breakfast is a buffet, with both continental and cooked options. The selection was good, and the food was fresh and well cooked. Overall this is a good, basic option in a very central location. The issues we did experience were most likely due to the frantic weekend of events in Wellington. I would stay here again.

Five people had booked 7 months in advance but did not have adjacent rooms - the 2 rooms were on separate floors. None of us could not access either room until after 6pm even though we had arrived and stored belongings before 8am. Our room did not have crockery, towels or facecloths for 3 guests. Was given a bedspread for 2 of the 3 beds after requesting extra bedding - we moved 2 beds close enough to make do. We remade 2 of the beds - one of which was a couch - because there was a bottom sheet, a folded blanket and then another sheet acting as a bed cover. No top sheet. Staff helpful but we were very disappointed. Tarrif paid did not match the quality of the room - very basic as there was only dining chairs to sit on - couch was made into bed and little space to move.
