“great deal”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

we'd stayed here once before and the location with easy access from and on to the motorway is great, the bed and pillows are really comfortable and the $79 deal on wotif with full breakfast, free car park and wifi was a real winner. We knew the room would be basic, we were visiting family and needed a quiet place to relax and sleep. The rooms are very quiet .Thorndon New World supermarket is just around the corner, trains and buses are easy walking distance if you don't want to drive in the city. The breakfast was very good, staff helpful and welcoming . We'll be back.

It was just OK, which is not enough with all the competitors, most of which are better located, although being out of the city centre does mean it's quiet. Strangest thing was the ill matching toilet seat and bowl which meant that my anatomy dangled onto the porcelain.
I chose this hotel because it gives access to City Fitness Gym, a few minutes walk away and an excellent gym with lots of exercise classes. I was happy with that., but it's not everyones cup of tea and it's a fair walk to pubs and cafes, if that's your thing.
Breakfast was $25 and pretty poor. I went an hour before breakfast closed. There were no other customers and I was greeted by congealed beans, mushrooms and scrambled eggs and undercooked bacon and sausages swimming in grease.
The staff member was polite taking my details, then left without another word. There were no spoons for the cereal and fruit salad (soggy fruit) and no-one to ask. Needless to say, I didn't go back for dinner or breakfast the next day.

We arrived at the Hotel for Easter weekend at 9.45am, such a friendly receptionist, gave us a lovely room on the 6th floor with a small view of the sea. The restuarant was available for meals, rooms well serviced. This hotel is well situated to the Railway Station where buses are available to most facilities and the CBD and Harbour. We also took the bus to Coastlands for a days outing. We will certainly be returning to this Hotel

Room Tip: Corner suite on 6th floor facing the sea.

Very basic hotel, we got a deal for $86 so excellent value, BUT room was absolutely freezing when we got in, had to turn on the small wall heater and it took ages to warm up. The bed was a bit soft and bathroom has no vent, had to open the window.

Many hotel websites say theirs will book you cheaper than any other: this one actually delivered, and I had four nights for $67 a night. It is my second visit and won't be my last. Check in was quick and efficient, and the fellow wished me a good evening when he saw me leave the hotel.

The room may well not be the largest I've been in but it is far from the smallest and quite suitable - about twice the length of the double bed, with the bathroom being surprisingly spacious. The bed is comfortable and the room is quiet, even the wee fridge is silent. I like that there's a small desk and a couple of chairs.

While I know it is not the hotel's fault, the internet provided by cafenet is frustrating, dropping out frequently. My only other negative is that the TV is really small, although the room design would make a larger one hard to fit.

There are several cafes in the locality, with a Mojo a couple of blocks away and the shops etc on Tinakori Road under a 5 minute walk away, plus a big New World (with an excellent craft beer selection) 3 minutes in the other direction. It is a bit of a walk to town, but the bus/train station are close as is the Westpac Stadium.

Stayed for one night before a wedding, the staff were nice but they closed the bar and surrounding areas around us without asking for last orders or anything!

The room was simple but clean and tidy, bathrooms are old but clean.

I paid $135 for 2 nights which is pretty good value. The room was a good size and mainly clean excepting for the bed duvet cover which was brown from overuse. I just kinda avoided using it! The bed was very uncomfortable too. It was sold as a king but was two uneven singles.
I wouldn't stay there again but didn't pay much to begin with so maybe that's a good thing
