As a tourist it is not always easy to find restaurants that locals actually enjoy. We heard about Cosa Nostra from locals we met while doing a tour of Te Papa. It was about 4 to 5 blocks from our hotel on the same street as the Prime Minister's residence. Clearly we were the only none locals in the restaurant. We did not have reservations but they found a place for us promptly and the restaurant soon filled up. These are the best frites in NZ, the pizza was excellent and the rib steak had a very tasty sauce all for $72 including a bottle of Montipulciano. For us it was a real find!
