... because you'll want to throw in a few words to participate in the very French atmosphere of this delightful place. And the team is very polite about the sometimes mangled Franglais that results!
We usually visit La Cloche for the café experience - nice atmosphere, good coffee and great counter food as well as brunches and lunches. (Although we avoid Sundays, sadly: no Sunday papers!)
However we recently needed a restaurant just out of the CBD on a Friday night when city restaurants were full because of some big events in town, and La Cloche proved a great choice. We arrived late - and others arrived even later - but the staff were more than happy to accommodate us even though the kitchen should have been closing.
Most importantly, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Really nice food, good service and all provided with a genuine touch of French flair. The evening menu is not extensive - think of this more as a café doing restaurant-type evenings than a full service - but the choices were excellent and we certainly had no complaints.
Both the café (counter) food and restaurant menu items are perhaps a little on the pricey side, but the quality is high and that's not enough to stop us returning.
