We booked a walking tour through the center and it was a highlight of our time in Wellington. It costs $20/person and we found it informative, humorous and interesting. Our group size was four couples which allowed us to get to know each other and to ask a lot of questions. The individuals that do the actual tours are volunteers who are passionate about their city and are able to provide not only information on the history of the city and the culture of the people but were also helpful in advising us on restaurants and other attractions of interest. The lady [Betty] that provided our tour went above and beyond extending the tour to three hours which was appreciated by all the participants. One characteristic that you will encounter in Wellington is windy conditions so make sure you have some extra clothing when going on the tour.

As the capital of the country you'd think Wellington would have had a buzzing tourism industry. You'd be wrong. This building is the only clue that they even know people who dont live and work there come to visit. it was the only place in the whole city that sold Wellington souvenirs. It is promoting activities that when you get there aren't really tourist centric or have people working there who really care about tourists. It has a feeling that they've bowed down to Auckland being the popular city on the North Island. it's a shame because we saw some beautiful things and they should get their government to help them promote it. The staff here were helpful and eager but they were fighting a losing battle with the rest of the city.

If you are a visitor to Wellington and need tourist information, advice regarding attractions, activities, accommodation - go here!

The staff are friendly, helpful and will do their best to provide information. Lots of brochures, NZ maps and tour options to choose from here. The iSite centre is located on the ground floor so it's easily accessible for everyone, including visitors who are less mobile.

Onsite internet Wifi and printing service.

Excellent service for tourists and locals alike.

Found ourselves in a predicament ie. we had booked online into a hell hole of a hotel and needed out! Wellington was very busy but the staff were excellent and tried a number of places before finding us a great deal at a great hotel........use these guys they're all over NZ and they're all great :)
