Interislander is one of The Great Journeys of New Zealand and our three ships each feature several outdoor viewing decks that allow you to soak up the gorgeous New Zealand scenery as it floats by. They also have plenty of lounges, cafes and bars to choose from, plenty to keep the kids entertained - including children's play areas - and plenty for mum and dad too. Cars, vans, caravans, campervans, motorhomes, motorcycles and coaches - all vehicles are welcome, just drive on, drive off. And for the rental car providers, just drop off your car at the rental depots within our terminals then pick up another at the other end - easy! Interislander has been sailing happy holiday-makers across the Cook Strait for over 50 years, so you know you are in good hands. And with up to eleven sailings per day, our timetable is bound to fit yours. Don't just cross the Strait, cruise it with Interislander and make your perfect holiday, perfect from the very start.

“On a clear day ....”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

We were fortunate to catch a fine day to cross to the south island and the vistas were special. Interislander was so easy from our downtown Wellington location it was no problem even at 7:30 AM. Onboard we found excellent seats with views that were picture postcard quality, The ONLY problem I had was abandoning the Dodger St Louis playoff game on TV in the sports bar to enjoy the Marlborough Sound. Basking in the glorious day both in deck and from our "Lookout" lounge chairs made it an unforgettable trip; and the wifi let me follow the Dodger win on ESPN app.; now that's a great trip !

Thanks for sharing your photos too. I'm glad we could chip in with some baseball action on screen! We do try to have a good range of programs to watch onboard.

“Travel by Ferry across Cook Strait”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

This trip was the highlight of our travel. Lovely scenery and a great way to cross the Strait - on a sunny, calm day, and the playful dolphins were a real bonus. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We felt welcomed aboard and were assured of a comfortable trip.

Hi, and thanks for your review. We of course can't guarantee dolphins, but it is great when they do appear!

“Comfortable ride”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

We made the crossing on a rather rough day. We upgraded to the premier cabin. It was very comfortable with good service. We thought that it was worth the cost considering all of the services that were included.

“Return Day Trip”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

Over to Wgtn to move family member back home, returned same day. Good weather and sailing. Even after all these years I still love sailing through the Marlborough Sounds. There's something relaxing and magical about a ferry trip on a good day

“no seats sutable to sleep in”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

on 30/10/12 on the kaitaki there were no seats sutable to sleep in due to operator closing the reclining seat area due to low passanger numbers this puts people that are driving and intende to have a sleep at risk about time you thought about your passangers interislander and not the best with your current advertising abot the new outlay

Hi marmish,

We appreciate your feedback about the new outlay and refurbished areas on the Kaitaki. The responses we have received about the changes have been overwhelmingly positive, however we have recognised that the recliners are being missed by some, so we are currently reviewing this with our survey responses.

Regards,
Gina Huntley - Interislander
