Owner description: Cruise with Interislander from Wellington to Picton across the Cook Strait and through the stunning Marlborough Sounds in just over three hours on the three largest ferries in New Zealand. Interislander is one of The Great Journeys of New Zealand and our three ships each feature several outdoor viewing decks that allow you to soak up the gorgeous New Zealand scenery as it floats by. They also have plenty of lounges, cafes and bars to choose from, plenty to keep the kids entertained - including children's play areas - and plenty for mum and dad too. Cars, vans, caravans, campervans, motorhomes, motorcycles and coaches - all vehicles are welcome, just drive on, drive off. And for the rental car providers, just drop off your car at the rental depots within our terminals then pick up another at the other end - easy! Interislander has been sailing happy holiday-makers across the Cook Strait for over 50 years, so you know you are in good hands. And with up to eleven sailings per day, our timetable is bound to fit yours. Don't just cross the Strait, cruise it with Interislander and make your perfect holiday, perfect from the very start.

It was my first time to travel thru the Interislander. I paid $52 each way for the Web Saver deal. It was not too bad for the price I paid. Superb views on comfortable seats. Passengers need to pay extra for more comfort, as expected on any mode of transportation. It's the peace of mind, knowing that Interislander is reliable and safe plus they give excellent customer service. Food and drinks can be bought at the food court but we passengers can always bring their own. They can provide hot or cold water on request.

I know there is a $51 one-way deal at Bluebridge and they offer free wi-fi, so I might try that next time.

A must if you are an overseas visitor to NZ. If you can, choose your day with clear skies and little wind, the passage through the Sounds is beautiful, crossing the Strait you often get to see dolphins. On board service is fine, plenty of seating and outside viewing areas.

Unsure why children are aloud in the bar area, eating and taking up seating that should be reserved for bar paying customers

Weather great in both directions. Additional cost of lounges is worth it if you want a bit of piece and quiet, without kids running around! Food and beverage good for extra paid. Seating very comfortable. TV a bonus. You still have access to remainder of ship at any time. Great crew and overall trip was excellent. Haven't struck a rough sailing yet, but you really can't do much about it if it happens, other than rebook! If you are crossing with a vehicle, your choice is limited. Interislander offer more services due to greater number of ships. Also a bit more modern than the opposition, for not much more cost.
