There are many places to sit through the journey. For the one-off holiday traveller, I don't think it is worth paying extra for the 'Plus' lounge. Nice views and the crossing was smooth despite windy conditions. Food is OK, but not great. It's too bad that the $2 bus trip from the dock to the city doesn't take passengers all the way into the centre of town. It only gets you as far as the railway station near the Bluebridge dock - but better than walking all the way. Boarding Kaitaki is rather unceremonious at Picton as you enter the ship through parked cars and up several flights of steps, but the process is reasonably orderly. Ticketing, receiving a boarding pass and luggage handling were trouble free. Search the Internet for a promo code and you might be able to save 10% or so.
