At the Museum Hotel, on the 3rd floor, is Wellington's (and maybe New Zealand's) best restaurant. 3 of us went for dinner for $309 including 2 courses each and a $65 bottle of wine. Not cheap - but worth every cent. This is a class act this restaurant. With genuine French serving and managing staff. Food was out of this world. The decor thrill starts on entering this Art Hotel - and you get blown away when you get into the Hippopotamus restaurant itself. Good views to yachts in the marina. Tables elegantly set and top class service. Pays to book - we went on a Sunday night and it was full. Thoroughly recommend this French restaurant. Will definitely be returning. A fine dining experience of the highest order.
