I am a regular at the Chocolate Fish and always pop in for the good food and wonderful friendly service. I am amazed at some of the earlier reviews holding the cafe responsible for other rude customers... It is true that the cafe does attract lots of kids out front as there is a great play space with lots of bikes etc, but the back courtyard is usually quiet and a great place to hang out on those overcast or windy days. So really it is great place for everyone.

No I'm not a kid hater - I have 3 of my own but I have to agree with the previous reviewer. Good food, great spot but day I went (about 3 pm after rush I thought) I thought it was a creche rather than cafe. Toddlers hooning around on trikes en masse. Obviously the owners have weighed up the mummy and toddler brigade as being more viable than the couples/oldies/childless brigade?! I would be inclined to think a good business woul take all parties into account and get the balance a bit better.

Stopped here for a light lunch on our way home one day after hearing reviews but never again. On arrival the impressions are very good, busy but well organized and people enjoying their food, mainly families but couldn't see anywhere for couples apart from a poky room to the right of the front door so we ended up on our own in the outside lounge area. This was lovely with heaters and cushions and we were quite enjoying our experience.....until......
A big group of adults and their kids came out and took the table right next to us, bringing over extra chairs and totally crowding us out. A whole terrace and they had to sit there???? They were going in & out of the sliding doors and not bothering to shut it after them so the poor woman sitting inside near the door had to keep getting up and closing it herself......so unbelievably ignorant! Our enjoyment and privacy totally shattered, we left in disgust and have never been back.

Recently visited this lovely cafe after driving past one sunny Saturday afternoon and seeing loads of people sitting outside on bean bags enjoying the sunshine. Our coffee was great and the date scones were delicious. The staff were friendly and cheerful. Some of the items on the menu did seem quite pricey however our coffee and cake were fantastic.

Great interesting sandwich men. So much to choose from we had to visit twice in two days just to sample more of the menu. Lovely areas for dogs and children. Will definitely return
