What a lovely hotel and in a great location on the Wellington waterfront. The staff are very friendly with great service! The room was massive and would be a great for a longer stay. Sitting outside to catch the setting sun drinking one of NZ great craft beers was a real pleasure.

Hi Andrew,

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay - and more importantly were able to stay hydrated !

Next time you are in town try 'Goldings' in Leeds Street for a fantastic array of craft beers...

Alan

We found this hotel at the last minute using trip advisor and did the booking through trip advisor. Everything was as advertised. Nice room and bath (we enjoyed the soaking tub). The minibar was well stocked with fixings for a wide variety of cocktails (the most reasonable hotel minibar prices I have ever seen). The owner or his staff are very attentive, can whip up a nice cup of coffee. The breakfast was good. The location can't be beat, on Oriental Parade, very easy to get to coming off of SH 1

They steered us to a nice restaurant for dinner.

All in all, a very nice place.

Hi Henry,

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on the property. As you say, our mini-bars are priced for consumption...

Good luck to you both with your upcoming marathons !

A real boutique hotel. Disguised from the street with just a modest 'Ohotel' sign, it feels like a funky Wellington cafe walking in with cool furniture and a relaxed, quiet vibe. Up the small staircase (lift available) there is more funky furniture and a very relaxed homely feel to place. I stayed in a superior suite which had beautiful views across to the parkland and water opposite. The room was huge with a magnificent modern bathroom. It was very quiet but perfectly located with the Sunday markets, waterfront and Te Papa Museum across the road and a short walk to Cuba Street and other Wellington attractions. The service is very friendly and personal. A very comfortable stay, one of the best hotels i have experienced.

Hi J S,

The Sunday markets adjacent to the National Museum (Te Papa) and opposite Ohtel are a real highlight for our guests who get to sample all the very best of fresh New Zealand produce, and gourmet treats from various food stalls.

Really appreciate the review.

Many thanks

Beautiful room. Location ideal. Left to your own devices but help on hand if needed. Well stocked mini bar and quickly replenished. Didn't get the breakfast-lots of good places nearby, but hotel cafe looked nice.

Stayed here for 1 night when we went to WOW. Hotel is in good location, friendly staff, very well stocked mini-bar, comfortable bed. Very Kiwi-ana style room. Staff very kindly offered to pre-order a taxi for us for later in the day.
Will be back to stay again!

After leaving the Victoria in Rotorua, we travelled the Desert Road down to Wellington, what a trip over the central plain, if you do drive a lot this is not a difficult drive and the views, even with cloud,of the active volcano Ruapehu are awe inspiring ( remember with broken cloud no one has the photo shot you have). down from the plains and on to Wellington you notice the changes in Flora and Fauna and the fault line running down the left hand side for miles. Prior to leaving Rotorua I had checked out the Ohtel Website, I had looked at this centrally located Design hotel, and decided not to book in advance as I wasn't sure we would not stop off on the way. As it turned out we got to Wellington in a oner, and turned up again on spec. Was offered probably the best room in the house at a reduced rate an offer I could not refuse and immediately booked two nights at the same rate.....(well, we had to sight see Wellington and then get the ferry the day after). Supreme room at the price I paid with just one issue, the music streaming service appeared not to function in our room. Under floor heating in the totally modern bathroom, massive football pitch of a bed, fridge, complimentary soft beverages , balcony , Seventies retro furniture. Wines that were available were supreme Envoy and Dog point Sauvingnon Blanc..... I am pretty sure we got the last of the good stuff so you will have to make do with the good Chardonnays , and Pinot gris. Staff really helpful ask for eating recommendation especially if you like seafood.Almost fully satisfied with this Ohtel especially at the price We paid.

Room Tip: Check the website, turn up on spec out of season and hope that you are offered a good deal on a '...

Great service, nice and quiet, very well appointed and in close proximity to everything. We loved our stay at Ohtel and have already booked to return. We stayed 2 nights and tried out the 'cocktail' idea in the mini bar - loved it and what a novel, innovative idea. Nice touch! Next trip is booked for one of the rear rooms, as we wont be there during the day (business trip) but outlook is great too.
