We do an annual family trip to the Bay and usually dine at Amphora. This time we were disappointed to find that it isn't really keeping up with the competition in the Strand area. Service and food were OK, certainly nothing special, the prices are high for what was served, and the menu choices are a bit dated. There are a lot of better value, more interesting options within a close walk.

This is nice for fine dining. Price's are a tad bit high, but worth it. Food's delicious. Fantastic in the summer outside.

We have been to Amphora for an evening meal many times before (although this was the first time in quite a while) and mostly have had an enjoyable meal with very good, friendly service. This time however, they were off their game. The food was very nice but the service was not good.

It started off ok. There are several tempting options on the menu and really something for everyone. When our order was taken we weren't told about the specials (more on that later). Our mains arrived and they were very nice and we enjoyed them.

After we had finished and our plates had been cleared we waited for a while until the dessert menus arrived. We were left to decide if we wanted anything which we did. We asked for the Banofie Pie only to be told that the item had been permanently removed from the menu and the "blackout" must have rubbed off. There wasn't anything else that took our fancy so we paid up and left. On the way out we noticed a specials board which had a few more main & dessert specials which our waiter neglected to tell us about and one of our favorite desserts was on as a special that night. We would have spent more money but unfortunately the service didn't deliver. Shame really. Hopefully this was just an off night for them.

Our apologies that we did not look after you in our usual 'Amphora' way. Your experience was disappointing and not how we like to take care of our guests. On your next visit we assure you of total enjoyment of food and attentive service.

Went there on a Tuesday night on a GrabOne voucher with 2 friends and have to say the restaurant did everything perfectly. The Mini-meize platter was scrumptious and large enough for all 4 to eat from it. Excellent bread and good feta.

My DH had a chicken Caesar salad and rated it the best she had ever tasted. I had a bouillabaisse and it was made perfectly with fresh seafood.

Very attentive wait staff who were faultless.
