Stayed in the hotel - Wow what a let down - we paid $184 for a Harbour View room for 2 adults and 1 child. This was the only room that took an extra bed. Very over-rated hotel, small and pokey rooms. Not enough car parks. Hotel staff rude. Breakfast was the best part but still staff unfriendly. The hotel seemed to more interested in the events that were going on at the venue rather than an normal visitor! Would not recommend this hotel, stayed in much better hotels for the amount we paid, Very expensive and over rated for what it is!

We stayed here for one night and thought that the accommodation was of a very high standard for the price we paid. We had a harvour view room which partly overlooked the hotel and swimming pool.

Our room was large and well designed with high quality furnishings. The bath room was also very modern, clean with underfloor heating.

We did not have an opportunity to have breakfast since the kitchen was being refurbished which was not communicated to us hence only 4 stars.

Locationwise, the hotel is a short drive away from the center of Tauranga and also well located for the Mount. We visited both and thought that the Sebel Trinity Wharf, although a business oriented hotel, also serves well the needs of travellers on vacation.

The hotel is relatively new, but has been designed to appeal to those looking for a stylish and restful location. It is about 10 minutes leisurely walk to the Strand, which is the main shopping/bars/restaurants - that's a good thing as it is a quiet place to sleep at night, overlooking the water. The in-house restaurant is outstanding - the chef was lured away from Cin-Cin's (a restaurant in Auckland) and his presentation and selection of dishes demonstrates a degree of care and pride in his work. This was the first place we've been able to sample yellow-fin tuna since leaving Auckland.

The hotel has a wonderful infinity-pool, which also overlooks the water (but there doesn't appear to be loungers), as well as a gym and other entertainment close by. Gentle or medium walks can be taken from just outside the hotel entrance. We had a good deal of NZ$199 including breakfast, which had everything you'd want served.

The rooms are large, with a good sized bathroom, and powerful roomy showers. Beds are firm and do not bounce around if your partner shifts in the night.

If you come, ask to be put in a room that has had the balcony doors fixed - they experienced a little problem (currently being fixed) where they didn't seal perfectly in our first room, and on a windy night ... it could be noisy. The second room was perfect.

Its close to the ferry (10 mins) which is great for the 30 min cruise to the Mount.

We stayed at the new Sebel over the Christmas period 2006. It's located about 1 km from The Strand in Tauranga and built over the water. The hotel is contemporary, stylish, well staffed and managed by experienced Sebel management and the location is very handy for the CBD, bars and restaurants of Tauranga city centre.

The hotel has not been open very long and there is still some finishing work to be done on the upper levels of the hotel so you won't find perfection just yet. The swimming pool has recently opened, for example, and is currently lacking sun loungers which will be rectified shortly. The harbour view rooms over the water are very restful and well appointed and the water views are superb from both the Halo restaurant and the rooms.

The Halo Restaurant provides excellent cuisine - so much so we booked for a memorable and superb Christmas luncheon. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you want a truly International standard hotel in Tauranga.
