“Bella Vista living up to its name.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2013

We visited Bella Vista a couple of years ago when it was open to the public and I immediately put it on my list as "a place to stay". We have just fulfilled that dream and were not disappointed. Set high above Tauranga the panoramic views are to die for. The Lodge is beautifully appointed for all day sun and luxuriously comfortable. We were greeted by Kay, our hostess who saw to our every need. We enjoyed the grounds and revisited the function room. What a shame our daughter is already married, this would make a stunning venue. The décor is beautiful with lovely plump cushions on the sofa to sink into in front of a roaring fire. We had a game of snooker before canapés and drinks were served before dinner. Prior to our arrival we had been asked about dietary requirements and agreed a menu suited to our tastes. We were certainly not disappointed. Ant, our young, extremely talented chef, produced a wonderful meal. We took it slowly to savour every mouthful and draw out the experience, then coffee, after dinner drinks and a chat before bed. We had the main suite which was beautiful, electric blankets had been turned on, shutters closed and a chocolate placed on each pillow. In the morning I soaked in the bath surveying the view from a large picture window. I'm only too sorry we could not do the breakfast justice as we opted for the continental choice, still full from the night before. We have had a wonderful stay, thank you so much Kay and Ant, it was beautiful, beautiful.

Room Tip: Choose the main bridal suite, certainly the best for the view and size. Fabulous en suite. We did...

We spent a wonderful night here being hosted by Kay who provided us with a delicious, perfectly prepared 3-course dinner and interesting and friendly conversation. The surroundings are lovely and the view way down to Tauranga and the port were spectacular. We felt very spoiled and pampered - a highly recommended venue, with a standard of luxury way above the norm.

Room Tip: We had the best room which is the bridal suite - the other 2 rooms are comfortable but much smaller.
