This luxury b&b is a bit out of town but it is worth the drive for the fabulous view back towards Tauranga on the coast. That's what you see from the front lawn and the dining room at Tauranga Lodge. This newly built property is very well appointed and you will receive a warm welcome from Karla and John. Your room, with en suite, is very private and comfortable. Guest meals are served (either indoors or outdoors) separately from the hosts. We had dinner (salmon) and breakfast. Tauranga is worth visiting, so you may wish to try the restaurants there during your stay.

We are very fortunate to have such a magic view with a panoramic view over, countryside, Tauranga city, Mauao (The Mount), and plenty of Pacific Blue. On a clear day you can see as far as Coromandel Peninsula and the wildlife sanctuaries of Karewa Island and the Alderman Islands, as well as the Mayor Island Marine Reserve.
We are far enough away from the city to feel like a rural escape, after a very busy day of sight seeing.

It is important to us that we have other areas for guests to enjoy and relax besides their well appointed rooms. It gives guests the opportunity to meet fellow travellers and share experiences and knowledge, as well as allowing us to get to know our guests better and maybe enjoy in a bottle of wine.

My wife and I traveled the North island in NZ for 2 weeks and stayed in 4 different high end lodges. The Tauranga Lodge was our favorite. The accommodations were roomy, comfortable and very private. The hosts (Karla and John) were extremely helpful and kind. We loved the location as well. Close to Tauranga and some great hiking areas with great views of the bay, yet just far enough from town to feel very quiet and serene. This is a true farm setting, complete with Red Devon cattle which John was kind enough to introduce us to - close up and person. But even with the quiet, serene farm setting, this was a true luxury experience. The highlight was the wonderful dinners that Karla and John served us. My wife and I are still talking about the meals. Breakfast, which is included, was also perfect. If you want a quiet farm setting, luxury accommodations, great food, location just near enough to activities, and warm, genuine hosts, then this is the place. If I could give 6 stars, I would.

Room tip: All the rooms are great. We selected the Pukeko Suite, which had the advantage of being at the end. But all are fine.

We were thrilled to hear that Tauranga Lodge was your top choice during your time in New Zealand.

It was great that you were able to stay for a longer period of time. There is so much to see and do in the Bay with many top tourist attractions in close proximity. It was fantastic that you were able to enjoy so many of the hiking and walk options we have around Tauranga.

It was truly a pleasure to have you both stay with us and be able to show you real kiwi hospitality.

We are always delighted when people take the time to right a review and it is appreciated. Thank you so much!

Greg and I stayed at the Tauranga lodge for four nights for what we deemed our "baby-moon" - our last holiday together before our baby arrives in January. It was an absolutely wonderful place in every way. Karla and John went out of their way to make everything perfect for us and it was definitely a holiday to remember. They had some great recommendations for things for us to do, including the Saturday farmers market, which we loved and I would definitely recommend as we got lots of yummy food to take home with us. They bent over backwards to ensure that we had everything we needed, including lots of delicious home-baked treats.

We also had John take us to meet his Red Devon cows including a tiny calf who was only a few days old.

Overall a wonderful holiday and I would definitely recommend :-)

Thrilled to hear you guys had such a good time during your stay with us. When you booked your baby-moon we thought is was such a cool idea to have a holiday before your special wee parcel arrives.
The little Red Devon calf is doing well and starting to bounce around the paddock.

I booked a nights stay at Tauranga Lodge for my parents for their 40th Wedding Anniversary. Karla and John were fantastic to deal with from the very beginning. They made Mum and Dad's anniversary one to remember forever. My parents enjoyed their stay at Tauranga Lodge and are looking forward to staying again on their next visit to New Zealand. Every moment of their stay was perfect from the afternoon tea, pre dinner drinks, the dinner that was cooked by Karla and John, the room and the view!! Thank you Karla and John.

Thanks so much for the kind words. John and I just love helping guest plan surprises and special occasions. It was such a pleasure to help you plan your mum and dads wedding anniversary…. we can understand why you are so proud of them. John and I got such a kick out of seeing their happy faces.
Can’t wait to spoiling you all next year for the next special occasion (:

When you want to see the many places in Tauranga, the Mount and around the North Island this is the place to come back to as we did. Fishing off the coast, visiting Auckland, and Wellington the place to come back to for peace quiet and restful sleep this it it. John did a fantastic job with his local tour around his place made us feel like family. Their cooking skills are the best, with the occasional home baking a big treat.
If you are into walking, riding bicycle, or almost any other entertainment you can think of the Lodge is not far from finding what you want. And if you cannot just as John and Karla they will know where to find it.

It was great to have you back again for another adventure in New Zealand. We really enjoyed helping you plan your day trips while you were with us. The animals are missing your daily visit.
The next time you guys come back we will have to catch that fish………the one that got away.
