This was my first trip to New Zealand and I was really curious and looking for something a bit different. I found New Zealanders to be incredibly friendly and hospitable; none more so than Tim and Debbie Short, my hosts. They are a wonderful wealth of natural history information and never tired of my questions! This is a lovely, restful place, with native trees and lots of birds. I recommend Mount Tutu in a heartbeat - be sure to take the glow worm walk. I almost didn't; it was a damp rainy evening and I didn't much care to go beating around the bushes - but they lent me raingear and boots and I couldn't believe how magical it was. Don't miss it!
