We had lunch at the Tipsy Trout yesterday and we were very impressed with the quality of the meals and the service. We were already in a positive mood as we were visiting Kinloch for the first time and found it a really scenic and peaceful spot. The marina was nice to walk around on a sunny Monday morning. In the Tipsy Trout the people in our party had a big breakfast, seafood chowder and a lovely home made sausage roll with salad. The portions were generous and the food was appetising. The wood burning fire and the frIendly service made for a warm atmosphere in the restaurant. We lingered for a flat white which stood up well against the coffees I have in Auckland. A very nice experience !

Went on a Friday night with 8 family members ( we were staying at Kinloch for a week. What a beautiful spot!) there was another family group of 18! there, they had obviously dined there before as seemed to know the owners. The entrees were varied I had the soup of the day which was seafood chowder. Just delicious. The mains we ordered were stuffed pork belly, lamb shanks, a curry dish and a couple of the specials board which were a bit cheaper but just as tasty. Waitress was in training but she was lovely. Timing of dishes coming out was great.
What with a couple of nice bottles all had a great night. Delightful location.

Stopped here winter 2013 and snow had covered all of the dessert road and we stopped in Kinloch on the way out of Taupo. A small village with amazing views and a large marina across the road.Mainly holiday homes and wouelyld obviously be busier in summer. The hosts were lovely and the food excellent.

A million dollar yet unspoiled views, this is a great little cafe`. The food is good, and the menu has plenty of choice. Kinloch is one of those places where there is no point in being in a hurry as there is nowhere else to go when you get there, so is ideal for a lovely coffee and something sweet after a walk along the lakefront, or a legendary burger.... My brother said the pasta was the best he'd had in a long time....and he can be hard to please!
