Review of Hell Pizza

Hell Pizza
Ranked #79 of 146 Restaurants in Taupo
Price range: $3 - $14
Description: HELL PIZZAS ARE NOW FREE RANGE. From 9th October 2015 all HELL pizzas will be made using exclusively free range ingredients - at no extra cost to you. Here at HELL, we're not only proud of the quality of our pizza, we also value the lives of our delicious farm-raised friends. We can now say that every ingredient on every pizza we sell has lived a happy life, up to the standards of the "Five Freedoms" that form the basis of the Animal Welfare Act. We are the first company in New Zealand to offer 100% guaranteed free range pizza. We believe that using free range produce is the best way forward for everyone. Since 1996 we have been committed to providing the most delicious pizza and, if you're carnivorously inclined, we think you will find our new meat selection even more succulent and tasty than before. The recipes are staying the same but our ingredients died with a smile on their face! What's more, you can sleep soundly at night knowing that the farms our protein donors called home are independently audited to New Zealand animal welfare standards. Better still, the new ingredients aren't going to hit you in the wallet. Our prices are staying exactly the same! How the HELL can the price stay the same? Easy, we made a decision to increase our raw food costs using a more expensive ingredient, but we plan on selling more pizza to offset this cost - so spread the good word about free range pizza and we all win! Who the HELL is supplying us? To make this change we've teamed up with our not-so-evil friends Tegel (chicken) and Harmony (pork products). The tasty chicken we use has been raised free and easy on farms in Taranaki, Canterbury and Auckland. In fact, Tegel have converted two more 'Five Freedoms' barns to the NZ Animal Welfare code free range standard especially for our chickens to sleep in - what legends! The pigs on Harmony farms are all grain-fed; no crates, no pens, only wide open pasture for their rooting pleasure. Who the HELL checks up on them? Tegel and Harmony free range farms can be spot checked at any time from farm to processing and packaging, to make sure that at any time they are walking the talk. For us, providing a quality product will always come before anything else. By switching to free range ingredients on all our pizzas we believe we are serving an even better product to our customers whilst also showing you what HELL stands for. We are very proud to provide pizza that that is both delicious and, like us, highly principled - whilst still maintaining our credentials as being NZ's most irreverent and twisted food company.

After a fun filled evening with lots of travel and adventure, our group wanted some good slices of pie and we heard good things about this place. We ended taking 3 pizzas and appetizers back to our hotel to watch a movie in the comfort of our cozy apartment. In short, we were not impressed with the hype we'd heard or read..and i ended with a bad stomach ache. Must say though that it was most likely due to quantity than quality, but still...was hoping for something better. Its not bad...just so-so!

We wanted to just relax in our cozy room at The Cottage Mews hotel so we ordered a pizza from hells. We were so disappointed with the taste and quality that we wished we had just saved ourselves a few bucks and bought a frozen one from the grocery store. It would've tasted better and cost half.

I've heard great things about Hell, and despite giving the place two chances, it's kind of a let down. It's not awful pizza, but it's hardly great. Granted, I'm spoiled on European and American-style pies. For the price, you're better off going with Domino's or Pizza Hutt.

ordered two pizza's to go with a side order of lemon pepper wedges. service was quick and efficient. Pizza tasted good and the wedges were to die for. Easy to park outside to collect your own. Not overly expensive and better in my view than the pizza hut down the road

We sat outdoors which was quite cold, no outdoor heaters available. The pizzas were ok and sides were very affordable. I have had better pizza elsewhere but it did the job.
