have stayed here few times for work meetings

pretty ordinary accommodation nothing fancy, a little run-down but not crappy

meeting rooms are good and spacious and well looked after through out the day

buffet meals are pretty ordinary and service is reasonable

Room Tip: keep in mind this place is quite a bit out of town, so if u were visiting taupo itself i would book...

Wairakei Bayview Resort
Good value motel - very nice grounds, room is fine - bed well a little past its use-by-date.
On site dining either pretty fancy or smorgasbord, but plenty of options in Taupo.

Only frustration was that nowhere do they publish an address and if you don't twig to the fact that it is the only motel in Wairakei and Wairakei is 10km from Taupo - you may have difficulty finding it because sat-nav doesn't find it either.

Room Tip: Consider whether you like peace & quiet and don't mind a walk to your room or the stairs, o...

We stayed here on our way back from wellington to break the journey. The kids had a ball - they enjoyed room service as a real treat, which was not too pricey for the pretty decent meals they got. The pool was great and I am sure we would have enjoyed more of the resorts offerings had we had more time. The staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble - I was very impressed with the service. We thought it was good value for money on the whole. We also ate in the restaurant in the evening and enjoyed a very pleasant meal. The only thing we probably wouldnt do again was have the buffet breakfast - I didnt find it as nice as the meal the night before and a bit expensive for something that you dont totally enjoy. Other than that I would highly recommend it as a good value pleasant stay.

We managed one of the last rooms on the weekend of the 'Cycle Lake Taupo' event. Varied arrangements possible, multi storey with lift access, cluster or linear cabins with common walls. Ours was one in a cluster and we were most impressed with the space and the privacy but could hear through the walls. Great design for spas / hot tubs near by. Two dinner options at venue, a la carte or buffet. Very attentive staff throughout. The weather conspired against us and the temperatures were too low to swim. This resort is just north of Taupo but easy distance to Huka falls (MAGNIFICENT) and the "Craters of the moon" thermal walk (SPLENDID)

Room Tip: See a plan or satellite view to choose what you'd prefer. i.e. near a pool or the fitness centre...

We stayed overnight and from the moment we arrived to when we left the next morning I could not fault a single thing. The staff at Reception were most welcoming, the room was clean, light and airy, and had a lovely view out onto the thermal swimming pool. We decided to eat in the Restaurant instead of driving into Taupo. Again very impressed with the choice of meals and pricing.

A great place to stay, and will certainly be back.

this resort is a very busy place. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfy, the noise level wasnt too bad considering there are a lot of rooms and people always staying there. Very touristy. If youre after something secluded and romantic this wouldnt be the palace to stay.
Had a pleasant meal at one of the restaurants. Overall I found it a lovely place and I would go back

After recently staying at the Chateau Tongariro, (a sister hotel of Wairakei and also operated by Bayview) i was pleasantly surprised by the standard of rooms, food and hospitality.

Rooms were a good size, clean and well presented. Housekeeping clearly take pride in their work, the rooms and bathroom were immaculate.

Hotel is starting to get a little tired and could do with a little bit of maintenance, in the bathroom there shower rose was broken and there were several broken tiles.

Was here for a conference and the food and beverage was well above normal conference standards. The staff were also very attentive and competent
