Owner description: Established in 1993 the Hole in One idea came from a conversation which was written onto the back of a beer coaster. Many years on the basic tenet has not changed. You come to the Hole in One to have fun and challenge yourself or your mates. If you get a Hole in One it's an awesome bonus. So far we have had over 800 balls land in the 3 holes. The red flag is a normal golf hole. Ever seen on TV a Hole in One? The blue flag is a 30cm sand bunker and the white flag is a 50cm (1/2 metre) sand bunker. We are one of the cheapest activities to do in Taupo and will refund anyone who doesn't have fun.

If you are in Taupo and you like golf you must do this. A floating pontoon with holes on it and cash prizes for all holes in one up to 10000 dollars. Great experience but mind you don't hit the man in scuba gear retrieving the balls!

What a fun way to spend a few dollars!! We'll keep stopping past the Hole in one challenge every time we're in that part of the country.

We stayed in an accommodation unit right opposite the 'Hole in one challenge' and loved watching the streams of people having a go. It was amazing how popular it was. My husband wasn't going to try it, since the odds of making a hole in one seemed remote but ..... eventually the temptation got the better of him and even though he didn't get a hole in one, he loved the experience and managed to hit the pontoon about half a dozen times (you get an extra ball free, each time you hit the pontoon.)

There are three holes on the pontoon with different degrees of difficulty and prizes on offer. It's very interesting to know that a hole-in-one is achieved, on average, every two weeks, so it's not as remote a possibility to win as we first thought.

It's beautiful location on the edge of the lake, it's close proximity to the main shopping centre and its friendly staff, make this a memorable holiday experience.

Its not every day you can win $10,000 But I like the idea of it, The challenge of getting a tiny white ball in what seams an even smaller hole on a floating pontoon in the largest lake in the southern hemispher with a back drop of some stunning mountains, You just cant go wrong.
