Delicious French onion soup. Really friendly staff. Very relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it for lunch / coffee!

“Snail service...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2014

This place looks very appealing from the outside. We were able to choose our own table given menus and then forgotten. There was a group in another room who were probably getting all the service! Husband had to go and ask for someone to come and take our order. We were given cups of coffee to "tide us over". By this time we decided to just order the snails as we have had this dish several times overseas. Dissapointing - no flavour, and very dried up. Won't be back sorry.

“Disappointed :( ”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014 via mobile

We went on the Saturday of Easter Weekend. The cafe itself is beautifully done up but Waited ages to order at the till as they seemed to be severely short staffed for the holiday weekend. The pastries and cakes looked beautiful but being on a health kick I ordered a garden salad with chicken. The other half ordered a type of breakfast roll that came with an egg in the bread. Food arrived quickly despite the slow front of house service. My salad was odd and arrived without the chicken. When the chicken arrived it was cold processed smoked chicken. If I had known that I wouldn't have ordered it! My husbands egg was hard which defeated the purpose if his dish! Coffee average. Service slow. Wouldn't return sorry!

“Family friendly including the dog!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014

I've only eaten an almond croissant here (many times given I have a bit of a fetish for them!) but the coffee is good and the setting is quaint, lots of unique French touches and different from the other cafes in Taupo which is refreshing given how many cafes there are to choose from. The big difference with this cafe however is the effort it goes to in accommodating children and dogs! I have witnessed whilst sitting outside on the cute deck with French music playing in the background, customers walking into the lovely garden area, tie their dog up to a tree or table with tree cover and enter the cafe. Whilst they are deciding which of the traditional French yummy offerings in the cabinet or on the menu to have one of the staff have delivered to their loved pet a bowl of water. There is also a small play area for the children which is more rustic than plastic and again under cover by the canopy of the trees. Added to this is the petanque court and the cafe is licensed so really it covers the needs of everyone. Perfect on a sunny day in Taupo for sitting outside and listening to the music; inside is rather cosy with two separate rooms to choose to sit - the views from the south room are fabulous looking out towards the lake and the three majestic mountains; Ruapehu, Ngaruhoe and Tongariro. They also offer a set French menu on Friday and Saturday nights - something I am yet to try and looking forward to.

“Tino Pai ( Fantastic)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2014 via mobile

Had breakfast here and it was so marvelous we went back for afternoon coffee & cake. Great coffee, great food, great service, great price...You can't go wrong. And the outdoor eating area with play area for the children is great too. Well done to the owners and staff.
