To stand on the bridge above the thundering Huka Falls is magical
having realised you are actually there one takes a walk along pumice strewn path to the various view points There you see Nature in the raw I cannot describe the colour of the water pulsating across boulders down to the Aratiatia Rapids ....another must attraction of Taupo area where at five minutes to ten there is a dry river bed then a siren bleeds out and thunder rises as the Dam gates open and the river bed is filled with crazy waves of gallons and gallons of the river Waikato Not long and the river is flowing on its way north

while they don't seem to be falling much (maybe at the end) it's probably one of the coolest natural water features i've seen it's a whilpool of insane power. supposedly enough to fill 7 olympic swimming pools every minute or something like that. but it's free and absolutely worth going to see

We didn't have time to take the 45min hike in either direction so we drove to Huka Falls. The amount of water going through the falls is breathtaking. Definitely a must see!

It's a nice little walk but not the most dramatic fall that you'll see. Our host told us that it's a must see in Taupo area. And it certainly is.

This is a great walk through the park - about an hour. You also pass natural streams flowing into the river which have hot springs with them which were lovely. Really spectacular falls as well.
