Lake Taupo is beautiful, and Millennium is absolute lake-front, no road in between. Nice room (bit dark) but QS bed only, not KS. Out of the town centre, really need to drive for meals etc but thats fine as long as youre not drinking.

Room Tip: Ask for lakefront

Dear Patmn - it is good to hear that you enjoyed our location - we do try to provide a good variety for guests dining and have an excellent reputation in Edgewater for evening meals, which proves to delight most of our guests - many thatks Diane

Lovely place, great rooms, great rates, beautiful lake views and awesome meals! Unfortunately I did not get to stay here as I was booked into another hotel on my tour but as a travel agent I was taken on a site inspection and if I had the choice of where to stay in Taupo this would be it. The staff here were extremely helpful and friendly and the meals we had there were delicious. Personally I can't wait to go back!

Stayed 1 night on a stopover in Taupo. After a long drive it was wonderful to have a friendly welcome at reception and be taken to our clean, comfortable waterfront room. We enjoyed having table and chairs outside the room on the grass right on the edge of the lake, where we enjoyed a glass of wine and the stunning view accross the lake to the mountains. The pool was small but very clean and as it was heated it was so easy to get into. Didn't eat at the restaurant, but the menu and room looked very nice. Had a good nights sleep. The only negative is a small one - the room was quite small. Okay for our overnight stay, but we would probably want a larger room if we were staying longer. But overall a good experience and would definately stay there again.

Had a very good couple of days at this hotel - lovely position with great views. Would suggest perhaps getting a bedroom away from the swimming pool to avoid some noise. Restaurant seemed a little expensive & breakfast charges OTT, but a good hotel with excellent location (lake side of road).

Room Tip: Avoid swimming pool area

Dear Cedarchaser - thank you for sharing your experiences with Tripadvisor members - appreciate your tips re swimming pool vicinity, whilst this is a popular request by pool lovers , we have the majority of rooms away from our pool area and are usually able to accommodate to please all guests. Restaurant prices are indicative of our unique location, facilities, with their contributing costs, however, have recorded your views for future reference. I do hope you enjoyed your NZ experience and we have the chance to welcome you back again. Regards Diane

Brownie point number 1. Great location...wow!
2. The restaurant and bar area is lovely.

Disappointing elements..............
When I informed the staff at reception I was allergic to feathers and needed the bedding to be changed. The member of staff just really couldn't be bothered with me...as they don't have housekeeping staff. Fortunately when another member of staff arrived to change the bedding she was very helpful.
Unless you like mock hacienda style buildings the hotel is very ugly. I also agree with other peoples comments about the strange size of the shower. Its very small. Do not go if you like a roomy shower :)

I promise you there are better hotels in Taupo.

Dear tinanadrory, this is not what I expect to hear about our friendly reception staff either, and I can honestly say it is not the usual either. I can assure you that I will analyse why and how this has been your experience. We have a wonderful reputation here for how friendly our staff are, so it is very upsetting to think one person has let our team down and I apologize to you for your experiencefor. It is not a problem to cater for individual requests we have many daily ones. Feather or non feather being one - sure after huuskeeping hours it can take reception time to do this change over, but not a problem (normally)
On a positive, I am glad you enjoyed our views and location - we do have many room types to offer, some with lovely large spa bath and bigger showers in the bathroom. Should you consider another more pleasant stay with reference to this I will assure feather free next visit.
Kind regards Diane

Great location to kick back and relax - away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of town! Weather was not the best but Manuel's provided warm and comfortable accommodation with stunning views of the lake. Easy access to lake track between showers! House keeping was top quality, restaurant delivered an excellent dinning experience with scrumptious meals. The Grotto was an unexpected plus (Italian style cave spa). We would be more than happy to return to this venue the next time we are in Taupo!

Stayed three nights here in March and it was very relaxed and comfortable! Had asked for a quiet/end room ( we had booked a standard lake view room), and we were allocated a lovely room at the end, past the restaurant.
Every thing was great - location, spacious accommodation, cleanliness, views of the lake and all meals in the restaurants, especially the service from Sebastian (charming, young man from Holland!) the Canadian girl, and the lovely Linda from the bar (ex - Liverpool) with whom we enjoyed some nice chats!! ( We were the couple from the Lakes, visiting our son in Auckland!)
Definitely, the best place we stayed in the North Island and will return on our next visit to New Zealand.
