Owner description: Sail Barbary to the Maori Rock Carvings on Great Lake Taupo, New Zealand. Sail Barbary is an all-year-round top rated Taupo activity; offering relaxation, fun and adventure on the water the Kiwi way. Taupo's 14-meter high Maori Rock Carvings are possibly the largest of their type in the world and are a must-see attraction, only accessible by boat. Sail Barbary has been offering sailing cruises to these carvings since 1983. Soak up the sun or roll up your sleeves; you can take the wheel, help hoist the sails or just sit back and enjoy the view. You’re guaranteed amazing photo opportunities as you experience one of life’s postcard moments. You can even BYO (Bring Your Own) food and beverages. Things really couldn’t get more Kiwi! As New Zealand’s only two commercially operated electric yachts - We're equipped for all conditions; if the wind dies down, Barbary's eco-friendly electric engine kicks in, moving noiselessly through the water. When the wind is up, you can enjoy sailing without salty sea-spray and noisy outboard motors. Warm ponchos are supplied. Sail Barbary cruises to the Maori Rock Carvings depart daily at 10.30am, 2.00pm, and 5.00pm (*5.00pm Summer Only). We don’t promise the best cruise on the lake, we deliver it!

Thanks Jamie and Sarah for awesome afternoon out there yesterday. Even though the weather wasn't flash Teresa and I thoroughly enjoyed the sail, conversation and company. You made a crap day (weather wise) a special day to remember for us. I'll definatley be recommending your trips to family and friends. Not many genuine fun tour guides like you! Oh and you are a perfect replacement to eminem with your rendition of 8 mile haha. Thanks guys.

Thanks to jamie, the Captain of the yacht Barbary, this trip was an absolute delight. The sun shone, the sky was clear and the lake was calm as the yacht cut its was through the blue water.
jamie gave a very lively commentary and we had a great time. One of the best attractions in Taupo. Excellent value for money

Loved our morning on the Barbary. The bean bags were a hit with our children and the ponchos came in handy too. Great sail, good commentary from the captain.

Great fun experience sailing on Barbary. The lake was rather rough and we didn't make it to the stone carvings, but the sailing itself was really fun and worth it. What is more, we got a coupon to come back again and I look forward to it. I would definitely recommend it to friends.

That was quite a rough day on the lake but boy it was fun, yes a free trip is standard policy if we can not make the carvings. I know i will see you again

Jamie and Sarah were the perfect hosts on our recent trip on Barbary. We had booked for the 10.30am Monday but the forecast was terrible. So we were contacted by Sarah who suggested bringing our Trip forward to 5pm on the Sunday. What a great suggestion we enjoyed a sunset cruise out to the Marori Rock Carving. Loved the ponchos and bean bags and a commentary when there was something to say. Would definately recommend it. We were a group aged 15-65 and we all enjoyed the stunning scenery. A definite must do while in Taupo.

Thank you radfrd for your nice comments. I am glad you enjoyed the trip and so glad you came on the Sunday and not the Monday as Monday was a shocker. Have a great day hope to see you again
