We spent an hour or so walking round and enjoyed seeing the hot pools. Not our first time visiting geothermal areas so we knew what to expect. Park was almost empty due to it being winter I guess which made it more enjoyable. Highly recommend.
I was looking forward to visiting the site with my family but when we arrived a female member of staff with grey hair was so rude to my son, simply because he was playing with a flag outside the office, that we left. Very disappointing. I really think the lady is in the wrong line of work. She is certainly not a good advert for NZ tourism.
Good place, the entrance fee is cheap, walking around the thermal for one hour but you need comfortable shoes
For the price it is really worth a visit just to check out a natural source of geo-thermal activity. Easy walk but really different landscape.
This was my first visit to a geothermal site and it turned out to be a great experience. Mother nature is amazing indeed.
Would definitely recommend this walk, we went on a bright sunny winters day and there was barely anyone there. The steam and craters were pretty awesome to see! Definitely worth heading there for an hour.
