Description: Voted Lonely Planet's No 1 cafe pick for the Central North Island and one of the top 10 places to visit in New Zealand. L'Arte Cafe and Gallery is not to be missed when visiting Taupo. Allow yourself time to experience something very unique and special! A trip to L'Arte is a visual and edible feast and unlike anything you have experienced before. The cafe and gallery are both set in a magical garden, complete with an outside mosaic living room. The food and art at L'Arte's unique destination are both exquisite. Resident ceramic artist Judi Brennan's work is evident everywhere and is sold exclusively from the gallery at L'Arte. L'Arte Cafe serves Allpress coffee, has a wonderful selection of New Zealand wines and beers and the excellent service exceeds all expectations. With New Zealand's finest produce, L'Arte's kitchen team produce everything fresh on-site, from homemade bread to homemade pesto and onion jam. We have also created a small deli so you can take some of L'Arte home with you. L'Arte Cafe, Gallery and Garden is a special holiday experience that will stay with you .........

“Great to take friends....”
Reviewed May 2, 2014 via mobile

What I love about this place is that it is consistently good - or has been every time I have been anyway....
That means that when we have friends come to stay we know we can bring then here and get a pat in the back for the recommendation. Great staff who are very friendly and the food selections are fantastic too. Some good options for the kids too....

Highly recommended....

“Little hidden gem”
Reviewed April 24, 2014

If you are looking for well cooked, awesomely presented cafe food, in a stunning location, then look no further. Having recently relocated to Taupo, we have been a few times to get our strength back after moving, unpacking etc... Always service with a smile & tasty hot food, which some other paces we have been to seem unable to manage. The kitchen stays hot until they close at 4pm - another amazing thing about them. Family favourites are the breakfasts - the potato cakes are to die for. I have to say I love the chicken & mushroom 'pie' they do & the fact that when you have the salad with it - you actually get three different salads on your plate! Can't comment on dessert, as we have always been too full - but we are aiming to put that right very soon!

“Lunch among the sculptures”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

L 'Arte provided an excellent dining experience among an abundant collection of funky outdoor sculptures. We had lunch for a special family birthday, and even though the cafe was extremely busy, the service and food were excellent. (Their eggs benedict and corn fritters were particularly good.) The cafe has an extensive outdoor area for children to play in (and for adults to wander around and admire the sculptures!) I would highly recommend L'Arte for an enjoyable dining experience in Taupo.

“Taupos secret cafe”
Reviewed April 17, 2014

This place was wonderful. It reminded me of Barcelona. A lot of work has been put into the mosaics which followed through to the cafe and even the toilet. The food was delicious. If you are in Taupo visit this cafe you won't be disappointed.
