Saw the high rating on trip advisor for this place but was still skeptical.
The quality of this Indian food, particularly the Batki chicken and eggplant blew us away.
Sanjay also took the time to explain some of the spices and preparations and where it came from in India. This was one of our best and least expensive meals during a month in New Zealand.

Lovely food and service. Sanjay and his wife are just fabulous host. Its a family owned restaurant and they take pride on what they serve to their customers. I have been to this Restaurant about more than 20 times since we moved to Taupo. I would recommend Master Of India for Family, Parties, Couples and business events.
The service remained outstanding throughout the entire evening and the staff were all friendly and made sure we enjoyed ourselves.
If you are staying in Taupo and crave for proper traditional indian food. I would suggest you go and dine at amazing Master of India. **Don't forget to mention my name**

We ate a lot of good Indian food on the North Island and this place was near top. Since we cook Indian food frequently at home, I can't give an excellent rating unless food approaches our standards. The service is top notch. We also tried Napier location, but Taupo was clear winner

We dined here for the 1st time last night with family & a group of friends (some visiting & some locals). From the moment we arrived we felt very welcomed & everything just seemed to flow so nicely. The decor is as if we were time warped to India - so brightly decorated & just lovely.

I'd not seen half of the dishes on the extensive menu before & the hostess very kindly explained what was what, whether the dish was hot & spicy, mild, the way it was cooked... nothing was too much trouble!

For starters we opted for a variety of naan, poppadoms (complementary), onion bhujee, tandoori combination, lamb cutlets, and prawns two ways (Koliwada & Tandoori). The aromas radiating from our table were absolutely divine.

Next was mains, dishes chosen included Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma, Mango Chicken & Balti Garlic Chicken, complemented again with a variety of naan breads, sauces, dips & yoghurt raita.

The food was quite simply some of the best Indian food I have ever eaten (and I've tried many in Australia, NZ, Asia, London, Tanzania & Kenya)... hats off for true authenticity.

All meals were very decently priced, unlike other Indian restaurants in the area. The total bill for 8 adults was just over $240 - very, very reasonable indeed. We had BYO wines with us & the corkage was m, water was complementary.

I highly recommend Master of India, it really is the best in Taupo & we will certainly return when visiting Taupo again.

We have had no luck with finding a decent Indian restaurant in Auckland. While in Taupo this week, we had dinner on Tues night Jan 8 we decided on MOI. From the initial sit down all the way through the meal, the service and the food is outstanding. The best Indian food we have had since June 2012 in a restaurant in Hoi An Vietnam! Too bad the drive is so far from Auckland or this would become our regular. When in Taupo be sure to have a meal here for authentic indian flavours and excellent service. We will be back.
