Over the New Year period we stayed in Taupo with the kids and decided to do it kiwi style camping, usually preferring to stay in accommodation.
We decided to enjoy breakfast one morning at Bistro Lago restaurant as we had heard from friend that it was a must try being managed by a well known NZ chef Simon Gault.
Don't go for breakfast is my warning!
The buffet cost us $35pp and was the worst breakfast experience I have ever had in a restaurant and not worth $10.
The bacon and eggs were stone cold, fruit looked like it had scrapings of skin (or something else) in the syrup, table cloth had a stain on it, muffins the size of something id cook at home on a bad day.
The only good thing about the breakfast was the service and the coffee was well done, albeit an additional charge.
I'm not sure about the dinner as others have reviewed this highly however beware about the buffet breakfast. It is not up to standard!!!!
