We visited the Crooked Door during an overnight stay in Taupo. We had the seafood supreme - a 3 tiered stack of tasty, fresh and succulent seafood with a bowl of chowder on top. It was enough for two grown men - so don't even think about ordering a starter! The others has green lipped mussels, again fresh and tasty cooked in a tomato broth. And for mains that had the dish of the day - again fresh and the portions were massive. The service was top notch and she was advised the ladies to share a starter of mussels as it was so large. She was right and we appreciated her honesty.
It's a quaint restaurant with the feel of an old fashioned English restaurant with wooden beams and a minimum of fuss.
I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant and would come again the next time we pass through Taupo,
