Just returned from a month travelling through NZ, and this was our favourite accommodation of the trip. Large spacious room, excellent bed, quality furnishings, good breakfasts and welcoming hosts. Drinks and nibbles were also provided each evening.
Some might not like the fact that the house is a few km out of Taupo, but with the quality of everything else, it didn't detract for us, and we liked the tranquility.

We stayed at Kauri Point for three nights and could not have found better accommodation. The rooms are really well appointed and lead out onto a large deck that overlooks the large and interesting garden. Gail and Robert are friendly, welcoming hosts who have a wealth of local knowledge - without Gail's suggestion we would never have ventured along the 'back road' to Napier and experienced the wonderful and varied scenery.
We used Kauri Point as our ideal base for the Taupo and
Roturua area and would certainly return.

Gail and Bob were gracious host. The Taupo area is a great base to travel central North Island. Stayed four nights and each night become more comfortable.
Luxury "at home" accomodation.Beautiful grounds made it very warm and relaxing. Quiet surroundings ,yet close to town and short driving distance to restaurants.

Thank you for your reviews. These help us to maintain and improve our level of service and quality recieved by our guests.
Your review of our location is noted and will be useful for those looking for accommodation in or nearer to town. Kauri Point enjoys an idylic rural location, barely 10 minutes from the town center. Our guests enjoy the peaceful surroundings and so it is not therefore suited to guests who wish to be in the bustle of the town itself. The majority of our guests book with us because of the location which is portayed on our website.

The room we stayed was lovely and decorated with native wood furnitures and loads of pictures. This is more of a nice home than a hotel, and makes you feel relaxed the first second you enter the house. The room, bathroom was huge. There were kitchen facilities too with free soft drinks and filtered coffee.

The host was nice and helpful in booking activities for us, and called a few places until found one for us to kayak in lake Taupo. I wish I could stay there for longer! Highly recommended for anyone who arrives by car and do not mind driving 10 minutes from the Taupo city center.

Gail and Robert couldn't be better hosts. Very friendly and accommodating, and they obviously care a lot about looking after their guests. The rooms were immaculate, and the bed was VERY comfortable. The location is about a 10 minute drive outside of the main part of Taupo so you'd want to have a car, but this was never a problem for us. If I ever make my way to Taupo again I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Our stay our Kauri Point, was amazing. So comfortable, homey and relaxing. Robert and Gail are such nice hosts, from our welcoming handshake to the last wave good bye. We felt like part of thier family, even interacting with our "extended family" was enjoyable. The rooms were immaculate, comfortable and beautifully decorated.
I don't think 5 stars is enough!

Stayed here with my wife and another couple prior to a work conference, cannot recommend it enough. Brilliant hosts, great accommodation and very nice breakfasts. Were offered a drink to wind down with as soon as we walked in the door. Gail even dropped us off in town when we went out to dinner, the restaurant recommended was wonderful as well. Was our first B&B experience, will definitely be back next time we are in Taupo.
