Gail & Robert have created something very special at KP that's likely to be way above your expectations. NZ has some really good private accommodation and I think it would wrong to call KP a B & B. It's more like a private lodge, surrounded by 6 acres of very private landscape gardens with panoramic views of the countryside. It's a lovely peaceful spot where you can lounge around on the extensive deck where the ever sociable and accommodating Gail will share a pre dinner glass of wine with you and the other guests. Our very large room was individually and beautifully furnished to a very high standard with a very comfortable king size bed and its own sofa. The bathroom is also spacious, modern and to a very high standard. There are lots of nice little touches everywhere you look and too numerous to mention. Quite simply Gail seems to have thought of everything you might ever need or want. Breakfast is cooked to order - don't miss it! Like everything else here it's very good! On our last night we took advantage of Gail's splendid cooking and had dinner with her and Robert and our fellow travellers. The venison pie in ale and the evening we spent around their fabulous oak dining table was memorable for all the right reasons.

This is quite simply the best private accommodation we've ever stayed at and by a considerable margin. It's the benchmark by which all other accommodation will now be judged by us. You will not be disappointed.

Thank you Colin330 for your review of your stay with us. We are delighted that you obviously enjoyed your stay and absolutely thrilled that you consider us the best private accommodation you have ever stay - that is certainly a great accolade, our thanks once again.

Evenings around the dinner table have proved to be a big success this year. We have a selection of meals to offer our guests, available with little notice, and with something to suit most dietary requirements. At the end of the day when you do not feel like going back into town for dinner it's the perfect excuse to sit and get to know ourselves and our other guests.

We hope to see you both again one day.

We stayed in several B and B's and hotels with prices ranging from $ 150 to 250 , and would have to say that Kauri Point was easily the best in all aspects during our experience in NZ.
Have to rate as close to the best B &B experience in all our travels worldwide.
Thanks Gail and Robert

We were so happy with our stay. Gail and Robert are gracious hosts. They spend a lot of time visiting with us and making suggestions to make our stay memorable. The rooms were beautiful, clean, comfortable and charming. The view was spectacular. Their dogs were so sweet. This is a number one top place to stay

Robert and I always appreciate the reviews our guests leave for us on this site. It makes all the time and effort we put in so worth it when we see or hear that our guests are having the great experience they deserve.
We hope that the four of you continued to enjoy your time in new Zealand and that maybe someday you will return and visit us again someday.
Thank you so much Gail

We had a long first two days in NZ on our road-trip and were very tired. Kauri Point was a very welcome res-bit. When we arrived there was some mix-up on the room reservation but Gail resolved that straight away and offered their Kids room downstairs which suited my 20 something son just fine. My room was so beautifully decorated with a shabby chic/Victorian style. I had my own sitting area with a private deck attached. There was wine/coffee offered and free wi-fi. They even dropped us off in downtown Taupo so we could explore and take in dinner. The Breakfast was so good and the options were many. The dogs were very friendly but knew their place. Robert and Gail had numerous stories and we were made to feel very much at home. Would return again. Thank you!!

Thank you for writing your review and for your lovely comments.

At Kauri Point we try to look after our guests as much as we possibly can so when we discovered that this guest had booked a 'double' room for herself and her son we offered her son our spare guest room. It is worth noting, particularly for guests from The States, that a double room, unless stated otherwise, will have one double bed, and not as these guests required, twin beds. It appeared the same mistake had been made at their next hotel - luckily we were able to change it before they left Kauri Point.

We hope you continued to enjoy our wonderful country and that we may see you again someday.

From arrival to departure,my husband & I had nothing but the best from this stylish home. Truely amazing hospitality from the hosts who offered us anything & everything. From the stylish decor & furnishings in all rooms of the house, to the drinks & nibbles on arrival, made our stay one to remember. Our room had its own little private deck which was just perfect for a child free, wedding anniversary & birthday weekend all in one. Only 6km from Taupo this home is set on a massive section surrounded with beautifull trees. A delectable breakfast menu to suit everyones taste buds & fill all size tummys, was served in the communal kitchen/dining area. Just delicious & real barrista style coffee. We will definately be re-visiting Kauri Point & have already told so many of our friends & families.

Room Tip: For more privacy choose the suite with private deck.

Wonderful hospitality a luxurious suite and warm and friendly hosts - what isn't there to love at Kauri Point?! Loved the stylish choice of decor and furnishings to really make this a truly warm and stylish place to stay. Fab views towards the mountain, huge deck in which to relax and sunbathe or to sit under the sunshades. Gail was at hand to provide all sorts of refreshments and snacks but also ensured our privacy. Great separate refreshment area outside in the hallway with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, mini fridge, microwave and sink. We enjoyed wine and beer and a platter of gorgeous snacks ( we were spoilt) in the evening together with Gail, Robert and fellow guests. A high class home and business which certainly deserves it's 5 star rating. Congrats and we look forward to staying again. Would recommend in an instant. Many thanks.

This is a really super spot just a short drive from town. The house is classically stylish and set in lovely grounds. There is good parking, a huge deck and spa pool against a backdrop of Mt Tauhara. The room is large and opens out onto the decking. There is also a communal kitchen area for guests and a guests' lounge. There is free wifi which we found works best in the guests' lounge. Gail and Robert are really lovely hosts and make you feel really welcome and at home. Breakfast is home cooked and the preserves are homemade too. They have two lovely spaniels, Arny and Buster and a cat (who are not allowed in the rooms). We were travelling throughout new zealand and this was the first time we could have the windows open and did not need air conditioning so a very good night's sleep. I was very sorry that we were only booked in for 1 night.
