Great spot and with views of the lake and amazing grounds, we enjoyed the stay and even stayed and extra night, The owner of the property was full of good advice for trips and local events on offer.

The Acacia Bay Lodge is a beautiful house located about 5 minutes from central Taupo and has great views to Lake Taupo and Mount Tauhara beyond. There are beautiful gardens around the house and the interior is equally stunning. The bedroom was very comfortable with views onto the garden and the spacious bathroom was excellent. We only stop for one night travelling further south but Deb made us feel very welcome in her home and provided a very nice breakfast prior to us leaving. Would recommend this B&B to anyone who is visiting Taupo area.

When we arrived we were made very welcome by Baxter, the resident minature schnauzer, swiftly followed by Deb and John who made us feel right at home. It's a beautiful spacious house in extremely large grounds in a quiet area just on the outskirts of Taupo. There is a shop and restaurant in walking distance and it only takes a few minutes to get to the centre of Taupo. The room and bathroom facilities were clean, attractive and very well appointed. The huge bath and view over the lake from the deck just outside the bedroom window getting a massive vote of approval!
Our hosts invited us to join them in the evening for a glass of wine and some pleasant conversation and and breakfast was a delight, with Baxter waiting to lead us to the table when we opened the bedroom door. Taupo is a great place to stay and explore and I can't think of anywhere nicer to stay to enjoy it all than Acacia Lodge.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Terrace room and can thoroughly recommend it. However, I suspect that the standard...

Our welcome was not only by Deb, proprietor of Acacia Bay Lodge, but also by her attentive and loving animal family of a Scotty and 2 Burmese. We felt most at home in her gracious accomodations. We had a nice queen room which opened to the deck and had a grand view of Lake Taupo, The bath was large with double sinks, shower and tub. Our breakfasts were delicious including homemade muffins and fresh fruit. Deb knows the area well and shared her recommendations with us. Her garden is vast and filled with lovely roses. Her home in adjacent to a sheep farm. There is a pond with Lilly pads and goldfish. Laundry facilities are available as well a a refridgerator. Deb is quite the gal, golfer and gardner, not to mention wonderful hostess. This is the place to stay near Lake Taupo, away from the town, but very convenient to it.

Had a lovely few days staying at the Acacia Bay Lodge. Should have spent longer enjoying the beautiful garden but we were rushing around during our days to see as much as possible of Taupo and Rotorua! We thought that staying here was a good base to see both areas. Deb was very hospitable and relaxed and the dog and cats are lovely. The B&B is a few minutes drive from Taupo but the views make up for it and there is a great restaurant and shop at the bottom of the hill. Would really recommend this B&B.

Not only are the accommodations and view fantastic, the massive back yard (size of a small farm) is perfect for the children to run off and play in. Wife and I hardly saw the kids (aged 7 and 4) as they entertained themselves outdoors. Felt like we had a baby sitter (Mother Nature) for free! Add to all that the fact that Deb and John are gracious hosts, and you have a great B&B experience. We'll definitely be going back every year from now on (we go to NZ every year).

My husband and I stayed with Deb as we were in Acacia Bay for a wedding at Westwellow. Having contacted a few B&B’s in the area we were impressed with Deb’s responsiveness and loved the look of the lodge and views over Taupo.

From arrival we felt like we were staying with family. Deb sat down and had a glass of wine with us and we chatted for about an hour before she directed us to the only restaurant in town (which was amazing) just a 5min walk down the road. After a fantastic sleep on some of the nicest linen I’ve seen we were woken by Monty the cat (who decided early on he owned us), then treated to a cooked and continental breakfast feast. We then sat out on the balcony and took in some of the views.

Deb even dropped us off at the wedding, which was beyond the call.

Acacia Bay Lodge is a fantastic place to stay if you prefer a modern retreat and great company. Deb and John have created a beautiful house for themselves, and you do get the feeling you’re staying with the well-to-do Aunty and Uncle you didn’t know you had. Besides the gorgeous house and guest rooms, and the biggest bathroom I’ve ever seen, I think the best feature of the lodge is the lack of fussing; Deb is happy to have you around the house without making you feel awkward or that you are intruding (in fact you forget you’re a paying guest). This meant we felt comfortable lounging around in PJ’s watching the rugby with a cat each on our knees.
