Linda and Rick's Acacia Cliffs Lodge is all you can hope for in a purpose-built luxury B&B. The emphasis on privacy, sleek design and an excellent cuisine prepared by chef Rick made this a fantastic location for my wife and I to celebrate the beginning of 2013. We shared wonderful conversations with Rick and Linda, and were amazed at the incredible views over Lake Taupo. If you want to be in the center of Lake Taupo's activities or amenities like gyms or pools are important to you, this might not be your first choice. If you want to feel the luxury of a five star hotel but with a great NZ personal touch, go for Acacia Cliffs. Thanks Linda and Rick!

Hi Alex
Both Rick and I were delighted to welcome in 2013 with you on New Year's Eve. Glad it was one you will remember!
The combination of relaxed luxury and a personal touch was exactly what we were aiming for when we built the lodge and, as we both know this region well, it is an ongoing pleasure to be able to share it with our guests.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review and we are really pleased you enjoyed your stay............hope to welcome you back some time!
Kind regards from Lake Taupo

The whole styling of Acacia cliff lodge is excellent. This can really be called luxury lodge and you will never be disappointed. Rick and Linda really have a great touch, and despite you live so tight you still can feel private if you like. We expected a great place , but it was even better :-)

Thank you for your review Conny.
We worked closely with the architect to design a lodge that was boutique in style but which also ensured privacy for our guests. We are delighted it exceeded your expectations!
Kind regards from Lake Taupo.

A modern and luxurious B&B
Rooms are very nice with a view overlooking the lake. Bathroom is large and modern.
Linda is a perfect host, taking care of everything: pre-dinner drinks, breakfast...
Rick was there only one evening, but the dinner he prepared was really worthwhile.
To compare with other "luxury lodges" we were in, I must say Acacia Cliffs is certainly the best.

Hi Patrick
So pleased you enjoyed Acacia Cliffs Lodge and the stunning location. It was unfortunate Rick had to attend a close friend's funeral during your stay but he was pleased to be able to return before you left to prepare an evening meal for you both. Thank you for taking the time to review your stay and for your positive feedback..........much appreciated!
Kind regards from Lake Taupo.

Stunning views over lake Taupo from the dining room, sitting room and most of the bedrooms. Everything in the lodge is modern and clean. Rick is an exquisite chef. You really are eating top restaurant quality food. We ate 2 nights at the lodge, 4 courses for $115pp. The only thing is that you have to eat with the other guests who have decided to eat in. The first night we had a fun couple, the 2nd night new guests and it was such a painful dinner and despite the excellent food we couldn't wait for dinner to be over.
Rick and Linda are great hosts and very helpful and knowledgeable.
Rooms were very comfortable. Bathroom was modern and spotless.
Breakfast is with whichever other guests are eating at that time. Consists of muesli, yoghurt and fruit. Then there are cooked options, the only thing I would say is that they are all based around cooked eggs and there are no sweet options available.
We would highly recommend staying and definitely have dinner at least once.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us at Acacia Cliffs Lodge.

We worked closely with our architect to maximise the views from the lodge and create a contemporary yet comfortable design so we are delighted you enjoyed the results and the stunning views!

In regards to dining at the lodge we aim to be as flexible as possible to meet the needs of our guests. Rick designs the menu daily and adjusts this to suit individual guests preferences or dietary requirements.

We offer both shared and private dining options at the lodge. While most of our guests enjoy sharing conversation and travel experiences around the table, we are aware that some guests may be celebrating a special occasion, may want privacy or merely be tired after a long days travel. We offer a separate dining space overlooking the lake and mountains where guests can feel part of the lodge experience but enjoy a more intimate dining experience.

Our apologies if you were not aware of this option.

And thank you for your suggestion of a sweet addition to the cooked breakfast menu...............we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to sample it!

Warm Regards
Linda Whitlock

The setting of Acacia Lodge is spectacular. The room we were in has wall to wall glass providing a great view of the lake. However even more impressive is the hospitality offered by Linda and Rick and the dinner which Rick prepared while we were having a glass of wine and an engaging conversation. Two nights wasn't enough to reap the full benefits of this place.

Room Tip: The rooms with a view of the lake are special
