We stayed here for the weekend whilst attending a wedding at near by Tupare gardens. Fantastic location and hospitality. Excellent value of money. Great location for a romantic get-a-way. Incredible views and relaxed setting. Thanks for a great stay! We will be back for sure.

Room Tip: Deluxe studio had magnificent views.

My friend and I stayed in the 2 bedroom self contained accommodation in March. The property is located only 5 min drive from the centre of New Plymouth.
Each block of apartments are located amongst excellent grounds with fantastic views of the local countryside, with enough space between each as to maintain privacy.
The apartment/chalet was clean and well maintained. The living area downstairs had a spacious kitchen/living room and dining area and a toilet. Upstairs were 2 bedrooms and a large bathroom with separate toilet.
The large windows and sliding door had generous sized sun blocking curtins which would be needed in the summer months as I would imagine the apartments would get hot otherwise. As we stayed on Autumn, the heat was not a problem.
The only problem was the brightness of the security lights outside the buildings. You had to keep your blinds closed otherwise the light shone right into the bedrooms. It would be far better if these were on a timer that went off at an appropriate time.

My partner & I stayed in the Elite Studio during Easter weekend.  This place is stunning!  There is about 3 separate blocks of accomodation with different apartment types.  It is not your typical accomodation where everything is cluttered together and in one building.  Although it is out of the city centre, I think that is what makes it a delight to stay at- the secluded intimate views with the sound & view of the river and no one else in front of you.

The good:
- amazing shower pressure with great design of in-built rocks at your feet on the shower;
- the room was fitted out with a tub by the bed by the window where you can soak and relax looking out to the awesome views;
- kitchenette had adequate cookery, cutlery, toaster, kettle, fridge, 2 hob stove and even salt, pepper & cooking oil provided- pretty much everything you can think of for basic cooking needs;
- parking was never a problem as there was always a space available;
- check-in was painless with us not even being required to fill in any forms or credit card being swiped (as this was provided to secure booking may explain why) and check-out was a breeze;
-  We didn't expect our room to be serviced daily during our stay especially since we left each day late but it was a surprise to come back and room was cleaned with new towels, refilled tea, coffee, milk etc.

The not so good/ things to be improved on:
- might be good to have extra towels as well as a floor towel by the tub provided already instead of just the standard 2 bath towels in the bathroom as you would expect the guests to use the tub or encourage them to if they've booked this room. Although when we asked for extra towels this was done very effiiently;
- I found the pillows to be quite soft with no support provided and there were only 2 provided on the bed;
- there were no ventilation in the bathroom or kitchen, which may have caused one of the units to activate the fire alarm in the morning due to too much smoke cooking or a very hot shower (?!);
- the room airconditioning was a small wall unit which took a while to either cool or heat up the room and was very noisy when kept on through the night- which we needed to do so as it was warm and since we couldn't really keep the windows open during the night, unless we wanted to be infested with mosquitoes and flying insects, proved a bit annoying if you wanted a quiet nights sleep.  Maybe investing in a heat pump unit would serve future guests better.

All in all it was a pleasant stay and if we were to come to New Plymouth again then we would definitely consider this place again. It is easily evident why this is rated #1 for accomodation on TA.

We had a room with spa bath and kitchenette. It was extremely well appointed and contemporary. The room had big glass doors out onto green space with a view down to the river. The bed was extremely comfortable. The spa bath was a nice novelty (and it had a shower over it if this is what you prefer). Reception was friendly. This is essentially a conference centre and you drive through the grounds to your unit but actually that makes it a nice quiet place to stay and suited us perfectly. We thought it was probably more like 10 minutes drive outside of New Plymouth.

The only fault at this lodge is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. The location, views, accomodation are all outstanding, but the lack of A/C did spoil it for us a bit. A good tip is to take your own breakfast food so you can eat it outside on the verrandah just outside the lodge overlooking the river.

Stayed one night when on a business trip to New Plymouth. A little way out of town. Beautiful outlook from our room overlooking the stream. It was really nice to sit outside eating breakfast with the sound of birdlife and to hear the stream below. The planting of natives trees/shrubs around the ground was amazing and obviously a lot of thought into the landscaping which really showed. The room was spacious, immaculate and large bathroom. One small thing which we forgot to mention when we left was the lack of plugs in our room ie. had 2 laptops to plug in. I can see when it's no. 1 place to stay in New Plymouth.

We stayed at One Burgess Hill for 2 nights while on a weekend trip to Taranaki. We had one of their executive studios, and it was very comfortable and spacious with doors opening onto a terrace with views of native bush and the river. Lovely big bathroom with spa bath. This place is a few Kms out of town so you need a car, but we found it very convenient for seeing the sights of New Plymouth. We would definitely stay here again.
