“It is a must do tourist activity in New Plymouth”
Reviewed January 4, 2013 via mobile

This is one of the best little zoo's ever. So well laid out. Don't expect to be in San Diego or Taronga zoo, but you will be pleasantly surprised with this very well maintained and clean zoo. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy the environment.

It is free (we donated as it was awesome). We spent about an hour and that is all you need.

Fantastic must do activity in New Plymouth.

“Awesome place for kids”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

We had so much fun here. The play equipment is amazing! The animals are an added bonus. I could have watched the monkeys all day long - so entertaining. Also loved the oinky kunekune pig. Best part - It's FREE! Thanks Brooklands zoo for a wonderful afternoon

“Great little (free!) zoo”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

We (a couple and our 2-year-old son) started our day at Pukekura Park at Brooklands Zoo. We had been told that it is small but worth a visit. As we're Auckland Zoo members, we were going to skip it, but are glad we decided to go!
It is small, but it's also free (there are donation boxes, we were so impressed we gave one!).
There are birds, tamarins, bolivian squirrel monkeys, capuchins, otters, meercats and farmyard animals.
As it was spring when we visited, there were also a lot of swan plants with caterpillars and chrysalises.
There is also a huge playground which our son loved.
