We went to the Cat Stevens concert and it was stunning - especially in this incredible venue with such great weather.

My wife and I were staying in New Plymouth for just a couple of days. We headed to the park to take in the first night of the ‘Festival of lights’ which runs over the festive season and in to the new year. We liked the park, with its trails and lakes very much. As dusk fell, many of the trees were illuminated and there were also about eight installations. We thought these were a little underwhelming. It wasn’t totally dark when we left, so perhaps some of the effect was lost on us.

What an amazing park! We were there for the Cat Stephens concert at the Brooklyn bowl.... wow.
Walking into the venue past the cricket ground and lakes was a great way to relax.
There were so many people there but the staff and vendors were excellent .
The walk out was incredible with all the lighting displays and crowds going in either direction.
The park will be on our list of things to do when back in the Naki.

After staying overnight in New Plymouth we wanted a walk after breakfast and were told that the park was worth a visit and sure enough it was. It is a delightful peaceful sanctuary close to the city centre. The trees and a plants were beautiful and walking through the avenues and around the lake was simply fabulous. Unfortunately we didn’t realise that there is a light walk at night were the pathways are illuminated, if we had known we certainly would have gone. I assume that it would be quite magical in the darkness.

Got a preview of the Christmas lights tonight. Fantastic - especially the bridge display which changes with the music. This is only the second time I've seen these lights but they are very impressive and well worth the walk. Go after 9 to get the best view.
