“nice sea view !!”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

the best thing here is the sea view !!(if you take the rooms with the view!) the hotel need re-decoresion !! it looks old and i think is essentiall for that.stuff is very friendly and helping a lot.the rooms are clean the location is very good and the value for money is fair enough.when i first saw the hotel reminds me hotels 20 years ago....but is clean and stuff very helpful...

Well located, with friendly and efficient reception staff. Finding our room was a challenge of winding corridors. One of the lifts only runs to the 2nd floor, and there appears to be no way of getting to the 3rd floor, other than descending and finding another lift or the stairs. All very strange! Our room was adequate, but situated adjacent to a heating or extract vent pipe that produced a dull roar 24 hours a day. The restaurant was good with great service and well presented food.

stayed here on business for a month. And fortunately had a room on 1st Floor facing Brougham St.
It had a small room layout and big bathroom with spa.During the stay i had to relocate to room up on 2nd floor as mine had been previously booked to others and it had larger room and smaller bathroom with spa.
Biggest dissapointment was the A/Conditioning was working for first 2 days......rest of the time.....broken!!!!!! Staff did put pedestal fan in room to use,but that was little comfort.
I did use the restaurant as breakfast included daily. Evening meals were nice but found better value in eateries in town.
Used the gym.......free weights and a couple machines.....but thats it.
Staff try their best

Agreed, the location of this hotel is good. However, once you enter the building, you do not feel at home. Very old fashioned and unbelievable that our travel agent (Aussie tours, Belgium) did recommend this hotel. Never a Copthorne hotel again.

We stayed here and while the staff in reception and the restaurant were fantastic the hotel is in major need of revamp. New TV in our room wasn't properly tuned, not very clean and ceiling panels damaged and dirty, if we opened the window they would lift up and down. Bed and pillows very uncomfortable and after booking for a queen room we had a double.

I had to go through New Plymouth on a business trip. I have to admit New Plymouth isn't my favourite place in the world but I was pleased that I chose the Copthorne to stay at. Didn't realise when booking there was a spa in my room, which I was very pleased with! My room was immaculate, the service was wonderful and their restaurant and room service was splendid. I had plenty of room and the staff were very friendly. Not a very nice view out the window, and the windows can be a little noisy, but then I did stay in the middle of a storm.
Recommend to others.

Stayed in this hotel for one night on a recent visit to New Plymouth. On first impressions the room appeared nice, but that was at 4.00pm. What a different place after dark! Noise from a Disco located close to the hotel could be heard "thumping" away until 3.00am. The occupants in the room next door could be heard "thumping" away into the early hours! and the final straw was the drunks who entered the hotel at 3.00am and decided that it was a good idea to wake the whole hotel. So, if you want a quite nights sleep, find another hotel.

Room Tip: Try and get a room away from the carpark.
