Very difficult place to find , we found it by accident and was surprised by the value and quality. We were dining at night so the view wasn't there. Expect it to be good in the daylight. I had the scallops which were done to perfection, however the Greek salad wasn't Greekie enough. We had bread, mains and a couple of beers each for around $50.00 per head. I consider that value for money.

Had brunch one Sunday morning and we were treated to overcooked hard poached eggs, dirty coffee cups, wedges and chips straight from a freezer bag, salsa straight from the can and almost forgotten aioli right out of an eta jar. On top of that, an absolutely filthy toilet I wish I saw prior to our meal as we would have left right then and there. Not to mention the rude, sweaty owner who didn't seem surprised or apologetic to hear our complaints. Oh... and there's bird poo everywhere.

Has a welcoming feel as you enter, unusual decor which adds interest. The menu for lunch is adequate and good choices. There is a good range of wines. The evening menu possibly needs one more item. There is also an ample choice of ice cream for those with a sweet tooth.
We visit for coffee very frequently (to the extent the staff know what we will be ordering) as within walking distance for us and are always welcomed with a smile.
Manou is very interesting to talk to, once you take the time to get to know him.
We will continue to support this cafe as Manou is giving us an opportunity to learn more about his country. Incidentally, our 2 daughters backpacked through Iran and loved every part of it.

Had lunch there on a Sunday. Man in charge - waiter front of house extremely busy doing all the work, no conversation, thrust the menu in our hands, took orders. Battered fish greasy which left excess fat/oil on the bottom of the plate, seafood chowder tasty but of a small portion (small soup bowl size) considering the $18 price tag.
On paying the account - no conversation, questioning of the meal/ambience/etc - quoted the price and a thank you when handing back the credit card.

Poor marketing and overpriced menu.

Interestingly, I have written this before reading other reviews. Seems I had a similar (bad) experience

Have tried out the new ownership three times with mixed results. Lunch was an ordinary affair with very average food and below average service. Dinner (twice) was not much better. The Iranian owner appears to think that New Zealanders like an eastern Mediterranean 'sloppyness'
when it comes to food, drinks and service. He has the perfect opportunity to create a really special restaurant, wirh Mediterranean undertones, as the site is spectacular and parking is plentiful. A big disappointment.
