Description: Located in Taranaki’s beautiful Port area, serving food crafted with love. Bach on Breakwater first opened its doors in 2006 & is situated at the end of the Coastal Walkway, right on the waterfront at the Lee Breakwater in Taranaki’s Port area. It overlooks a child-friendly little beach, and the working shipping harbour. The Bach is warm and casual, with a comfortable and welcoming ambience generated by the purple interior, the use of many upcycled materials and the mix of very old wharf timbers. With cosy banquette seating behind the fireplace, and slab timber tables lining the extensive double-glazed windows, the atmosphere is vibrant, friendly and fun, with terrific sea views. Diners can enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch and snacks, choosing either from the delicious array of cabinet food, or the extensive and well thought out menu which includes outstanding gluten free, vegetarian and vegan offerings, as well as the normal meatatarian choices. You can be on a diet and still enjoy

Lovely place to come for lunch. Fast service, good coffee, and beautiful views of the harbour. Everyone enjoyed their meal, which was a variety of cabinet meals and from the menu.
Shame about the plastic straws.

We went to The Batch to celebrate a birthday...a lovely venue, tidy, nice staff. A great experience but not really value for money. The Nachos were very average, not to say disappointing and the fish and chips - nice enough, but not value for money with shoe string chips. We payed just over 100NZ Dollars for 3 meals and 3 Drinks. I know that theese days it's just about normal to pay that much - but I do still expect good value for money :( sadly it wasn't.

At the start, or beginning of the shore walk, this beautifully designed, charming cafe is a favourite of ours.

A table by the sea, great coffee, beautiful food, all together a nice way to begin your walk or finish it.

For our second trip to New Plymouth we made a point of returning to the Bach. Great range of over the counter lunches or off the menu. Two of us enjoyed the battered fish and salad, so fresh and yummy it must have come from the New Plymouth waters. Lunching at the Bach, especially with a window table, so relaxing, enjoy the view, and the sea water atmosphere. Add it to your bucket list.
