Owner description: Utterly spectacular 11km long walkway along the seafront in New Plymouth, New Zealand. Walk, ride skate or scoot from Bell Block in the north to Port Taranaki to the south taking in the stunning Te Rewa Rewa Bridge, three swimming beaches, a golf club, rolling farm land, rivers and various accessways to residential and shopping areas.

We came to New Plymouth for the weekend and spend a whole day biking along the walkway. It is cycle friendly and has a range of spots to stop for lunch or an ice cream along the way.

This runs all along the ocean for several miles with some amazing views! We both biked and ran the trail. Wide and maintained the entire length. Not heavily populated so was easy to navigate. Definitely worth checking out.

The walkway - about 11 kms. - is easily accessible at many points and traverses a variety of terrain from the town itself to natural wetlands and countryside. It is smooth, gently undulating and wide enough to accommodate cyclists, joggers and walkers.

I am not a walker, but I enjoyed the city part of walkway along the beautiful coastline and then drove to the end, to walk over the amazing bridge, shaped like a whale skeleton. Stuning white and when you look from one end it frames Mt Egmont/Taranaki. Children, families with buggies would be easily able to enjoy whole or parts of walkway depending on your time and fitness.
