We walked from Ngamotu Beach (the port end of the walkway) to the Wind Wand, and back. It was a sunny Saturday morning and there was a bit of 'jostling for position' between cyclists, skaters, walkers and dog-walkers. I feel the walkway would be significantly safer if a division was painted, to assign a cycle-only lane and avoid near-misses between cyclists and pedestrians. The views of the ocean and port were pleasant, but we later realised the section of the walkway from the Wind Wand towards the east is much more scenic. In summary: try to avoid walking at busy times, and aim to focus your walk the eastern section.
