The Victoria Lodge is well located about ten minutes walk from the centre of Rotorua along the main drag where most of the accommodation is situated. It is a small motel run by very friendly and helpful owners. The room was very pleasant if rather small and squashed and decorated in floral designs. There is a large supermarket and shopping arcade just across the road which is very convenient and there is a fridge in the room. The best bit is the cool hot tub made of stone which is built into the outside wall of the bathroom. It is open to the sky but surrounded by high walls so noone can see it. You have to climb out of the bathroom window into it but it is great to sit there with a glass of wine looking at the stars!! Victoria Lodge is a good value, comfortable option to use a base to see the area. By the way, the Waiteke Valley Pools are brilliant if you've got a car, a fraction of the price of the Polynesian Spa and hardly anybody there. A great place!

We found the accommodation to be clean and tidy, and in a good location. The owners were really friendly and helpful, especially when it came to planning and booking excursions.

We chose this motel on price and location - it turned out to be a good choice.

The accommodation was both pleasant and clean. The owners were very helpful when we had a problem and made helpful suggestions about attractions/locations we could visit.

It's located in the centre of Rotorua, and like most of the motels around it, it has no lake views and little garden.

It was comfortable and the kitchen came equipped with all the basics plus a few extras and the beds were really good.

Studio units quite compact and rather cluttered with basic furniture including small dining table, but very comfortable bed. Unit was very clean.

Minimal kitchen facilities but OK for tea and toast breakfast etc. Each unit has its own private geothermal spa pool next to the bathroom, a bit of a novelty as you have to climb out of the bathroom window to get into it! - we had no problems and enjoyed lazing in the pool with a glass of wine.

Good location, easy walk to restaurants and lake shore and to the main highways.

The owners Alan & Pru are very friendly and helpful.

We stayed for two nights in a studio room and it was the best budget accomodation we stayed in throughout our entire trip. The room was small, but had lovely furnishings and the little extras you get, such as a coffee plunger and beautiful toiletries, really make your stay so much more comfortable. The owners, Alan and Prue, and their dog, Asterix, are wonderfully friendly and so welcoming. The private hot sping bath was massive - I'm 176cm tall and I could lie down in it without touching the sides. We would definately stay here again when in Rotorua.

We spent one night in Victoria Lodge in February this year and found it to be excellent on all counts. The Owners, Alan and Prue Hope, were very helpful and Alan certainly gave us good advice on making the most of our short stay in Rotorua. Perhaps the best thing about the Motel was the private mineral spa attached to our room, it was perfect for relaxing in after a hard days touring. I would recommend this motel for anyone and will certainly return for more than one day on our next trip to New Zealand.

Quite far out of town, but we had a car so it didn't matter, Victoria Lodge is a small husband-wife run motel. It is SMALL too - our standard double had too much furniture in it and we could barely get three suitcases and two people in it. Very limited car parking too. It has an outside thermally heated bath, although if you can, go to the Polynesian Spa instead and experience the thermal pools for real. Not bad value for money though - we paid NZ $115 - although you didn't get a kitchenette, unlike many of the other excellent motels we had stayed in.
