“Brilliant Evening”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

From the moment we were collected from our hotel we enjoyed this excursion.
We were taken in small groups to a marquee - everything seemed personal. Clear explanations were provided throughout the evening and we came away with lots of information.
The performance was excellent, riveting - particularly the Haka! Our warriors arrived in a canoe - scary. We loved that our group provided a singer - very emotional. Lots of involvement.
Food was good, even for a veggie like me! Lots of choice and we really did eat the Hangi.
Afterwards we were taken on a night-walk to see glow-worms. Great memorable evening - thank you.

Reviewed January 26, 2014

As Kiwis we thought we would finally go to a Hangi & concert was recommended by a local restaurant & thoroughly enjoyed it, Authentic & you could easily see the pride & enthasium in their proformances, the Hangi was amazing & we gorged ourselves for the second night in a row, will definately have to go on a diet when we get home

“Maori Medieval Banquet”
Reviewed January 25, 2014 via mobile

We couldn't come to New Zealand without experiencing a Hangi meal.
The village collect you from your accommodation which is a nice bonus as it enables the driver to have a drink.
On arrival you mingle with other diners in a marque before wandering down to the river to witness the Maori braves paddle past in their canoe.
Before the show you get to see the pit where the chicken, lamb and potatoes are cooking.
The show itself lasts 45 minutes and takes place on a realistic set and involves about 15 players.
We have seen better cultural performances in NZ but you can't knock the energy and enthusiasm displayed.
The meal itself was ok with plenty of food on offer.
Overall it reminded me of a cheesy medieval banquet I attended years ago.

“Very fun and interesting evening”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

The evening we spent was a nice combination of fun and education about the Maori culture. It includes a fun program of music and re-enactments (well explained) by Maori tribal members, lots of audience participation encouraged, buffet dinner, wine/beer for purchase, tour of the "jungle village" after dark, including glow worm pools. We really enjoyed the program portion; food was so-so.
