“Well worth the cultural insight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

The cost of this attraction was about $100 NZD.
Overall the night was very enjoyable and we were very happy to feast on our first ever Hangi. The meat was succulent and tasty. Don't expect any fine dining, as your in a marque and it seats a lot of people, there were approximately 100 people on the night we went. We were luck enough to get front row seats a the cultural performance which was entertaining and we were provided the opportunity to have a picture with one the local Maori performers.
After dinner you take a leisurely walk to take a look at some glowworms and the Sacred Fairy Spring, which is pretty cool.

Loved it. Kids (7y & 5y) loved it as well. Good show. Good food. Good demonstration of how the Maori lived.

“Fantastic evening - highly recommended - one of the best things we did in NZ!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013

we had a fantastic time at Mitai - the evening was well organised with free hotel pickup. The atmosphere was great - seeing the maori come in on the waka was amazing and the cultural performance was fantastic and very informative. the staff were brilliant and the hangi meal was super - very tasty with lots of options (great if your a fussy eater like me!) and you could eat as much as you want! i would highly recommend paying extra to see the kiwis and look around rainbow springs after the meal it was really special to see the kiwis and the wildlife in the park after dark - the glow worms were an added bonus too!

“Just excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

I was apprehensive about this as I thought it might be a bit cheesy. Instead it was a lovely experience which was quite authentic and well delivered. The Hangi meal was top notch and tying it all off with a trip through the glow worm area was cool.

“Disappointing- Total tourist Rip Off”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

We recently travelled to New Zealand and thought we would take in this cultural event . Upon arrival we were greeted by a Maori lady at the door who ushered us into the building. At $100 Aus per head i was sorely disappointed . We were put into a Marquee which had all its electrical cables running around the edges and there was no hint of any culture in there what so ever. The walk through the "forest" to see the performance and hungi were less than fascinating. I must say the show was actually good, but unfortunately none of the cast hung around to get photos with the audience( apparently they had headed to local Macca's for dinner).Dinner was nice , but as you would expect in a banquet, people were pigs..You get the basic roast meats , potatoes and salad, and if your lucky you get dessert. Don't expect free soft drink on top off that though..You have to pay!!.. I would recommend you give this a miss as it was obvious this is only a money grabbing attraction to ripoff tourists. It looked like nothing had been done to the site since it was first built..Sitting on plastic chairs in a plastic marquee for the $100 pleasure- Forget it!!
