“A Nice Way to Spend an Afternoon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2013

We spent the afternoon at Waikite Valley Thermal Pools after spending a morning hiking around the Wai-o-tapu Thermal Wonderland. It was a great place to soak and relax. This appears to be a stop that is a bit off of the beaten path and so it was really quiet and free from the crowds that we saw at other destinations.

“Palace in the clouds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2013

The trip to the valley (we came from the direction of Taupo) is already worth the detour. What a views. Then there are the clouds of steam coming from a crack in the mountain side, covered in bush. We decided to have a swim and ended up in one of the private pools. Well worth the visit: the water is continuously refreshed, you can mix it as hot as you like. Relaxed while looking over the trees and ferns. After that, we walked the "eco" trail to the spring, boiling water rising from the depths.
The pool features a small cafe.

Loved this place! Pools drained every day. Great value and not really busy either. Lovely short Eco walk. Highly recommended and only 20 mins from Cbd right near Waiotapu thermal wonderland.

“Lovely experience”

We stopped on the way from Taupo to Rotorua. It is not far off the main road to Rotorua. Worth the visit, and need about two hours there.

Nice environment to sit in the hot pools and look at the gardens. Changing rooms clean and well maintained. Could do with more lockable lockers to store valueables.
