Regents looks motelisj in style and is in so far as the rooms are accessed via a communal balcony or straight from the courtyard if on the ground floor but there is nothing motelish about the quality of the rooms or the other facilities. The rooms are spacious (we had a one bedroomed suite) and very thoughtfully kitted out in the kitchen area in partiuclar. It's all black and white with green accents, including luscious green bath robes and slightly kitsch but in a very appealing way. The proprietors are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble. They engage with their customers extremely well and are the perfect hosts. Breakfast was fabulous as was the lunch and dinner, infact we didn't eat anywhere else other than at a 'heritage evening' as the food at Regent was so good. It's a great place with a great atmosphere, food and hosts.

Every review below is correct and I don't want to repeat except that I have to mention the front desk --management is superb -- we have stayed at hotels around the world and Darren and his staff far outshone everyone else. They make sure you know exactly what things are available to do and then will book it for you -- and check up to make sure everything is working well. They truly made our stay a fantastic one and I would recommend The Regent to all. Rooms are funky and modern and top notch.

It's not often you can recommend a hotel so highly as you can the Regent. This is a hotel with a face, with a personality and one that cares and makes every effort to make sure you have the best possible stay. The attention to detail is remarkable, the decor very funky and the owners are so helpful and always seem to be there whenever you need help but they are not 'in your face' but considerate and friendly. The beds are so comfy, the showers wonderful, what more can I say. The hotel is walking distance to the lake, to a fab row of restaurants and the town center. It has free wifi and plunger coffee in your room. I would definatly stay again and would highly recommend. We stayed with 2 children and we were made to feel most welcome. (Did I mention the heated outdoor pool!!)

I have to agree with everyone's positive reviews and comments about the Regent. We stayed 2 nights and cannot speak highly enough about the level of service and comfort we experienced. Darryn and Brent must not get any sleep themselves, as they were there at all hours of the day to assist. They are both delightful and have such enthusiasm and interest in their guests. Darryn helped to secure us bookings for the Polynesian Spa and an evening at the Mitai Maori village. He also suggested visits to the Wai-o-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland and Redwoods Forest. All fantastic experiences which we thoroughly enjoyed. The rooms are lovely, stylish and clean. The restaurant is excellent, we had breakfast there both mornings and dinner one evening. Cocktails to die for! For me, nowhere else even comes close in Rotorua.

As well as the decor which has already been described and the upmarket bathroom products, tea/coffee etc. what really sets this hotel apart is the attention to detail and the incredibly friendly welcome, not only by the owner at reception but by all the staff who truly do go out of their way to make your stay memorable. Their knowledge of the surrounding areas and their intuition means they make sure you visit attractions that will personally appeal to your party. The hotel is also right in the middle of the "CBD" meaning you can walk to everything. One of those places where its up to you if you wish to remain annonymous. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was fantastic, you will not be disappointed. As we were driving around looking at where the usual chains were the Regent was in one of the best locations and I was so glad we hadn't gone for them,

Tastefully designed, clean rooms with nice thoughtful touches, like free wireless internet. There's a nice big mineral spa and lovely poolside dining so you can keep an eye on the kids. The food was also excellent, certainly the best you're likely to find in Rotorua. Very good service and friendly, helpful hosts. We wish we'd had more time to spend here.

From the moment we checked in Darryn went out of his way to make us comfortable and welcome. In 2 minutes he straightened out problems we had with tours we had prebooked and made excellent suggestions as to how to make best use of our time in Rotorua. The hotel is lovely, clean, and beautifully decorated. We had lunch by the pool, a gourmet breakfast, and they made us sandwiches to take on the day we were touring. Our stay here was a highlight of our tour to New Zealand.
