I enjoyed my stay at this hostel. The guy at the front desk was friendly and he recommended plenty of activities for us. My friend and I stayed in a room that had an ensuite bathroom and everything was clean. The location was also good, as it's fairly close to town.

The staff is really nice. Very friendly and, most of all, very helpful. And very funny. They leave you at ease as soon as you step inside the hostel. In the evenings they have poker, wii tournament, pool contests... It is awesome to meet new people, and you can win a free beer! The rooms are very comfortable, good beds (I was in a 10-bed mixed dormitory room). The bathroom is good as well, with hot water. There are two kitchens, and they offer free rice and pasta. Good location: there is a supermarket and an i-site (information center) only five minutes walking, the government gardens around ten minutes away, and the main street right in the corner. They also offer a pub craw. Music 24-7, and they play a lot of reggae (in my opinion, this is a super positive point). But don't worry, you will not be bothered by the music. This place is for having fun, rest and feel at home. Absolutely recommended.

As two 18 year old girls it was such a nice hostel- everyone was really friendly! The dj deck with music playing throughout the day was a great touch and the hot pool was really cool. The free tea, coffee, pasta and rice was an added bonus! Our highlight was definitely the mud tour; the owner of Crash Palace was such a nice guy and takes you round to the best spots, with all the money from the tour going straight to his own charity! Definitely recommend!!!!!!!

I heartily enjoyed my six night stay at Crash Palace. The staff are excellent, especially Jarrad. Chris, the owner, is kind and a great bloke as well as an accomplished tour guide and host. The hospitality is faultless and the emphasis is on providing an environment where everyone is welcomed and included. Chris runs a Mud and Mineral Springs tour which is a must for visitors to Rotorua. It's fun, informative, affordordable and the proceeds go towards helping young people in the community. I highly recommend Crash Palace.

We we're so sad to have only stayed one night in Rotorua and will definitely go back there as soon as possible!
The Hostel is really nice and the staff is super friendly. They helped us get around and gave us lots of advice. The Charity Project the owner has is great as well. You should do the mud/hot pools tour!!!
There is a whirlpool, nice chillout areas, an organic vegetable garden, herbs and spices and free pasta and rice.
This was by far the best hostel we've been to in NZ so far...

You should definitely like music if you consider staying here since they are playing a lot of music during the days. This is partly what makes this place unique. They offer free rice and pasta, also they have some sort of activity everyday like: movie night with free popcorn and hot chocolate, pool-contest or free barbecue. Crash Palace has a jacuzzi and a veranda with tables, chairs and sofas so you can hang out outside.
They make your laundry so you don't have to do it yourself which is nice if you have a tight schedule.
The kitchens are small, but there is one upstairs and one downstairs so there was always space to cook.
The staff is caring and helpful. They can help you to book different activities.
We came back a second time.

thank you so much for your kind words. It is our guests that also make this place the place it is. Without you guys taking part in the hostel activities having a laugh with staff and just generally being good people this would just be a place to sleep. thanks again for returning to see us hope you have a great trip through the rest of NZ safe travels to you.

Room Tip: i was in a 10 bed dorm, was really fine because the shape make the room as 6 and 4 bed no microwave...
