Hotel was clean and easy to get to. Staff were more interested in talking to each other then being helpfull. Web site advises that you can use facilities at the noveltel however they dont advise that they charge $10 a swim public pool is cheaper. Only two towels where in room when booked for three people also beds not very confortable.

Thank you for your review, I will certainly pass these comments onto the team as we continually look to improve across all areas of the hotel. Yes there is a $10 charge to utilise the Novotel facilities as these guests pay a premium room rate to have these services complimentary. The $10 does get you into the pool area which also hosts a full gymnasium, a large heated pool, 2 spa pools including a geothermal spa and 2 saunas’, which can all be utilised for this price. However staff are trained to inform all guests of this charge, so I will reiterate that point with the team. We have just undergone a trial bed survey with new beds and guest responses have been fantastic. We hope to roll these new beds out in the near future. Thanks again for taking the time to write your review and we indeed hope to be able to welcome you back to Ibis Rotorua

Visited this place in the month of March this year on a honeymoon. The newzealand trip was arranged by Newzealandtourister.com , who booked everything airfare ,hotels ,sightseeing etc via some sale going on and we got a 15% off..so ws nt a bad start + we were on the budget so we chose the lowest cost option

Excellent Location

The location of this hotel is quite good its just in the heart of the city and quite accessible to all the tourist attractions as well as all the famous restaurants are just located at a distance of stones throw away which is very impressive, our check in process was quite smooth and didn’t consumed much time and we were received well by the staff at the check in area and guided to our rooms,

Rooms: can be made better

initial impression the rooms are very small and so are even the bath rooms, and they are totally out dated, television is very old one and it’s a test to our patience watching programs in it as it requires lot of attention in order to change channels as well as it sound system is gone, the beds are not so comfortable to sleep,

Food: Good but delays

food served at this hotel is cooked in side by located hotel and its always hot when served but the waiting time for food is always more as there are abundant options in the form of restaurnts located near by we wont advice eating at this hotel

Staff :Excellent

staff are really an asset to this hotel they are very pleasing and are very attentive to our needs. They do had a gym which is ok just to see that we do some thing if we are regular in our exercising stuff, they do provide internet at a cost of $ 15 per 2 hours which is very expensve , but we can find it for free out side, car parking facility is provided free of cost which is good,

Overall : Good for budget travellers

Final word it’s a very economic hotel keeping our budget in view, and the location of the hotel is perfect to explore different places around, so its advisable for those who always want to be on the go to different locations and come in to rest that’s all.

Thank you for your positive comments. Yes the Ibis is an economy brand hotel which is reflected in our competitive and very affordable room rates. It is great that you found the staff to be friendly and the food always hot. Our location is also a great asset with its proximity to both the Lake front and Government gardens as well as the local restaurants and shops.

Our 3rd time at this hotel, and completely up to expectations.
It is wonderfully located for the Lakefront or the City.
Parking is so easy. Park your Car and take the Lift up to reception.
We dined at the restaurant and loved the Fish and Chips.!
Reckon it is well worth asking for a Lake view room. Costs a little more but is such a lovely outlook.

Room Tip: If you belong to an affiliated Club, the Rotorua Citizens Club is just 200 metres away. Great meal...

Booked hotel a week in advance. Arrived Easter Sunday evening and delighted to be given an upgrade with Lake view. Room was quiet, bed very large and comfortable and breakfast in morning was plentiful. Hotel itself is adequate, could be done up sometime.

Really nice people who gave excellent and cheerful service. Nice food. First time staying at an IBIS,and was disappointed to find our room had no bath. No room service. When I rang the bookings desk I was assured there was a mineral pool - not so, the pools belong to Novotel, where we had stayed before, and there is a charge for using the pools. Wssn't in the best frame of mind as I had broken my arm that day, and was disappointed that I had been given incorrect info. Wouldn't stay at an IBIS again: for this price we could have gone to a really good motel, with a spa bath, and still had change.

Thank you for your review. I apologise that parts of your stay did not meet your expectations. It is important to note that we are dynamically priced and therefore priced on demand. At event periods where Rotorua is at full capacity you will notice price increases across the accommodation market, and when this demand is not so high, our prices are a lot cheaper. The majority of the time the Ibis is priced below an average motel. Our services are reflected in the room rate and again I apologise that they were not to your desired expectation on this occasion

I found the location of the hotel was PERFECT for our needs. Which was to park our car and walk to town or the lake. The room was a little on the warm side even with the air conditioning unit on. The beds were very comfy but the pillows were too soft. Breakfast was not the best but average all the same. Housekeepers were friendly and nice.
Lastly, we were not impressed with reception in regards of a survey we had completed and handed in,with the belief that there would be some sort of voucher as a goodwill gesture. Only to be offered a coffee to go....I didnt think was very professional.

Yes, we are proud of our location and continually strive to offer a friendly efficient and professional service. I do apologise about the voucher for the survey. Ironically the offer of a coffee came about from guest comments that they were happy to complete a survey and did not expect anything in return. All the same I am sorry you were not offered this voucher as stated on the card.

The hotel was good value for money. It provided us with somewhere to stay but was quite basic. The hotel was quite noisey, you could here showers running and lots of noise from doors closing. You could order room service but you had to go downstairs to reception to collect it and it was not served on a plate, it came in a plastic takeaway container.
